I want to add a USB/iPOD connection to my D4 Audio System.
Anybody know if I can install the ACM (Audio Connectivity Module) to my D4.
D4: 2011 3.0 TDV6 GS
Audio system:
Mid Line Audio System HARMAN/KARDON , 9 speakers including Sub, radio , single slot CD Player ,
Steering Wheel Mounted Audio Controls , Audio Amplifier 240 Watts.
The questions:
1. I read here that in order to do so, I need to add the ACM -
Is it the VPLAE001 ?
Does it fit to the D4 Audio System ?
2. Does anyone installed it already to a D4 ? Gil P

No there isn't. The Mid Line Audio System without the touch screen doesn't have USB/iPOD connections.
The only input available is AUX. Gil P

thanks Andrew.
The disadvantages of this solution are:
1. There are wires & iPOD around - not so convenient.
2. You can't control it with the steering-wheel controls.
3. You can't see the track/directory on the HU screen.
4. The connection is via the AUX input which has much lower volume, and when you switch to the Radio/CD you can blow your ears.
The advantage: It's much cheaper.
I prefer to pay more, but to get these features.
The question is if the ACM (VPLAE001) that fits to the D3 can fit also my D4, and if not - is there other "ACM" that fits to the D4. Gil P

I have the MY11 HSE with iPod connector and the information on the main display is very limited anyway, particularly if you use podcasts, so the only real advantage for me is the fact that the iPod is kept fully charged. If it wasn't there, I'd just use the AUX socket as the background hiss on the FM transmitter solutions drive me nuts. 2010 MX-5 2.0 Sport Tech PRHT

Another solution would be the Harmon Kardon Drive + Play. E-bay £25.0 approx
I had one installed in my D3. the obvious advantage being the iPod style display and controls. It also charges various iPods. Mine's a 1st generation Touch. (See pics in my gallery) I also had the LR ACM unit which I connected the Drive + Play to, so I had full conectivity through the normal sound system and used the volume controls on the steering wheel. it worked great.
