I'm running a 64gb stick with WMA format music and have had no problems as long as you start up/power on the ignition in another audio mode. 64gb seems to be pushing the D4 computing/memory to its limits. I just sync mine with the home server whenever we add new CDs. FAT32 format.

Interesting: WMA doesn't work for me, though I wonder if that has something to do with a mix of two file types?

Well, MP3 is working fine for me, and that works with the miriad of iPods knocking around my house, so I will stick to that!

I've noticed the same thing - comes up with "Device Error" if you start the car in USB mode with a USB plugged in 14 Disco 4 HSE

Me too.
If the car has been asleep though, it can sometimes take a while for the USB to connect, i.e. 'load-up'.
This wasn't noticable with the 4gb stick.

Due to an ongoing problem with my iPod connectivity I have been experimentiung with the USB option.
I have been using an 8GB SD card in an SD/USB adapter which appears to work fine.
It seems to recognise it pretty immediately and I have been able to play MP3,WMA & WAV files without problems.
The manual seems to state that the system will play AAC files, but it does not recognise them at all, and from reading this thread general consesus seems to be that it will not play them.
This is particularly as it does mean converting anything ripped in this format (especially Apple Lossless) and it can obviously play these from the iPod directly. They really should not put this kind of incorrect info in a manual, I don't supose anyone has taken LR up on this directly?
Anyhow, thanks to this thread I have found the best way for me is to temporarily change the iTunes Media Folder Location (EDIT>PREFERNCES>ADVANCED TAB) to the SD card directly when plugged in to the PC, set the import format temporarily to a custom 320kbps MP3 setting and then I can convert directly onto the card, which actually doesn't take too long - still it would be better if it would play AAC as the manual suggests
The only downside of using the USB connection over and above the iPod is the lack of playlists.
Is there any way of creating playlists and copying them to the USB drive which the D4 audio system will work with?
