Use of Parking brake in an emergency. |
|
One of the land rover 'experience' instructors gave me a tip re the electronic parking brake.
If someone takes ill or falls asleeep at the wheel the passenger can activate the parking brake even at speed and bring the vehicle to rest.
Just activate as normal and hold it - you will hear the alarm go off and the vehicle will slow down quite quickly.
I have tried it a few times (although not to a complete standstill) and it certainly works very well.
I am very likely to be 'teaching granny to suck eggs' here, but you never know it may be of benefit to someone.

What brake does this method apply? Surely not just the EPB shoes??
Tried it on LRE FFRR and I felt my internal organs head towards my nasal passage also!!

When you get down to about 2.5mph or lower it also used the EPB Brakes to bring the vehicle to a complete stop.
