Should I use this wheel cleaner?
I bought some car cleaning gear online and they sent me some Wynn's fast action wheel cleaner in error. They've told me I can keep it.
I'm wary of using an acid cleaner on my wheels, but believe it's just a weak mix , it says it's less than 5% nitrilotriacetic acid). It advises no more than 2 mins before washing off.
Anyone have any experience of this cleaner on Discovery wheels, or wheels in general?Gary

Sorry cant help with the cleaning stuff.
However just a thought
If it was to take the lacquer off It would be an expensive free trial.
@ 60-80 quid per wheel refurb
Takes your chances.

I guess it's like Wonder Wheels. Probably wont do any harm if you follow the instructions. If you are worried about it, give it away. Richard

I used to use Wonder Wheels on a different car a few years ago - eventually it will take the shine of the lacquer as its acid based
Best stuff is something PH neutral - I use Dragon's Breath (when you smell it you will realise why) - PH neutral, turns the iron contaminants purple, great stuff to apply - quite gloopy so it sticks to the surface well

Its probably like most of the wheel clean products... you have to be really careful and ensure that you don't let it dry and rinse afterwards with plenty of water.
Some products can be really aggressive..... I know

Thanks guys. I think you're right.... it'll probably be fine for very occasional use and following instructions to the letter, but why risk it. The colour change ones are supposed to be much safer.Gary

I poured some in a jug and left it standing in the kitchen - stunk the kitchen out spectacularly

TFR or CTFR is real good for wheels and best of all does not take the silver/gold coating off of the brake calliper, so still looks good 2 yrs after fitting the new brakes.
I assume that as it does not attack the calliper finish it has no acid content.

Traffic film remover or TFR as it's known...... can be quite damaging if not rinsed off properly. The trick is to always rinse well and make sure that you dilute it to the suggested strength if buying it in concentrate form.
