Havbe you tried inverting the rubber cover thingy and clipping it into the lid? It gives more space in the fridge.

If I turn the lid upside down as suggested in the handbook, the main lid won't close.

Yes, but I can't do that now I've fitted the PTI cradle (useless as there must be a loose connection to it, but that's another story).
