Vaping

Whilst our wonderful and always correct MP's are recommending vaping on prescription there is still no evidence of the potential harmful effects of doing so. Whilst, in the short term, stopping people smoking by offering them an alternative will save millions on NHS expenditure no-one yet seems to be able to say what the long terms effects are.

BUT what seems to have been forgotten is that the majority of children and adults in this country who have to inhale the second hand vapour may also have to suffer the the long terms effects as well...

It's a question of degrees. Some people seem to have their device (which, lets face it, is a somewhat inadequate battery-powered kettle) turned up that it's like walking behind Thomas the Tank Engine with clouds of foul-smelling second-hand vapour.

When I moved away from a cloud of the stuff, the person producing it was a bit sniffy and told me it was harmless, to which I pointed out that so is flatulence and I don't want to inhale that either!

That said, I worked with a colleague who used one and it was set so there was next to no vapour drifting around, so you'd never know she was using it. No objection to that approach at all.

I never been a smoker and I could always tell when someone had even been stood chatting to smokers.

Now I'm noticing how many people have that sickly sweet vape smell.

The bit that saddens me is seeing people taking up vaping who have never smoked. My kids say there are kids in school who vape.

Decades ago smoking was advertised and being cool and even beneficial, even though it is now a proven killer and everyone on the planet knows that people still do it. I wonder if we we'll go through the same cycle in 30-40 years time with vaping

All valid points, and have to say that the so called 'plug-in' air fresheners for the home are in the same bracket.

Vaping is disgusting, the endless fog that envelopes people and the putrid smell of decomposing dung that eminates.

Just because peps aren’t smoking tobacco, they seem to think they can waft around with a vape permanently attached to their gob and no one should complain. I’d line them up against a wall, one last vape and shoot the lot!

No need for it and who knows the long term effects. If they want to do it in the privacy of their own home fine, but not in public. Evil or Very Mad

Agreed, well maybe not the shooting bit as that would mean lots of paperwork. Whistle

Dunno, got to be some deterrent. Whistle

Hate it when people light up the fags or vape outside the shops. I can smell it 200 yards away. Banging Head

Some great points above! Thumbs Up

Much is made of it being a safer alternative and a support to giving up alternative, but nicotine patches and gum already exist.

Why anyone (other than the vermin that manufacture and sell them) should want to re-normalise the appearance of smoking is beyond me.

I don’t like the fact they make these vapes smell “nice” I often smell sweet flavours like candy floss I believe this is just making it more appealing to children and because they like the smell may be more inclined to try a vape.

I've even seen people passing them around to try a new flavour.

I rarely go into town but people outside shops, pubs and offices really annoy me because they invariably block the door way and or pavement in their little gang.

Went to a pub recently that had a covered but open porch area and had to actually get people to move to be able to get in the door. It would be quite intimidating for a someone on there own as there were 5-6 of them blocking the door.

What's not helping is many vapers are probably intaking way more nicotine than they ever were when they smoked.

That’s what gets me. A lot of vapers seem incapable of putting the thing down, meaning they’re on a nearly permanent nicotine high.

A lot of our drivers have taken up vaping, they’ve already been warned about using it around doorways be it the bus station or their bus. Complaints have got so bad, more than smoking, that spot checks are being made and £50 fines handed out under some public health act or something like that.

I don’t have a problem with people vaping but at least be respectful of non vapours.
