Vibrating when accelerating

My discovery started vibrating yesterday. More noticeable between 40-60mph.

Is this what people refer to as the juddering? Only asking as it seems more of a vibration to me so was wondering if it was something else?

Box was mega flushed on 123k from memory, its now just turned 130k.

Thanks Smile

Cheers for the response guys!

I'll jack it up at the weekend and will have a wiggle!

Finally got around to jacking it up this afternoon.

Rotated and wobbled all 4 wheels, all seem OK.

Gave the prop shafts a wiggle. Get some weird noises from the rear one where they join. Not sure if that is normal?

Sort of what it sounds like in the car when accelerating (thats started since my original post), comes from the centre of the car.

Video here: &app=desktop

Very noticeable on my drive back home, thought id recorded it on my phone but couldnt have pressed the button!

Thanks for the help so far Smile

Mine turned out to be front prop
The rubber was knackered in it, no noise now just got a slight vibration occasionally from somewhere now, but the noise, which sounds similar to the noise you had when moving prop has gone

Hi Chris.

I have exactly the same noise on mine when I jiggled the shaft but no visible splits in the rubber. However checked a week later and I could get my fingers through the rubber at the top and getting worse so took it off the road unonew shaft purchased. New prop shaft going on today so I’ll let you know

When you say new prop do you mean the rear one if so check the front
I was the same but on checking the front one it was that one

Prop shaft changed when I got it off and inspected it the rubber bearing mount was half split. But more importantly the CV joint to the rear differential was very clunky and didn’t turn easily glad I did it when I did. Drives like a dream again.

Hi Andy,

Yes it was the rear as that was shot (no vibration then though). Will check the front. Thank you.

Diffs usually tend to whine when they’re on the way out, can never hurt to replace the oils though.
