Video of Disco 3 in Sahara |
|
Here's a link to a video I made of our recent trips to Morocco.
Check out the D3 being winched up an easy dune by a TOYOTA!! The shame of it. To add insult injury, the guy driving is the owner of LAND ROVER Algeciras. He didn't realise that the pic of the cactus on the Terrain response dial was for sand!!!!
Doh! He regularly takes his demos to Morocco before selling them
In October there will be 5 D3's going over with some TOYOTAS for a week. I think we may bump into the PROTRAX crowd.
Anyone else going then?

I will be there with the Protrax group. We are entering the extreme part of the competition and we are taking a Rimini Red D3 and a Rimini Red 07 110 Defender In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Hi Chay,
Cool video and very nice editing....it looks like you guys had fun.
So what happened to the Cayenne around 36 seconds into the video? Was this a failed attempt at the good old Kinetic Recovery technique??

He sounds like a very clued up dealer
Maybe he really did think that the cactus was some type of symbol to represent traffic-light-drag-racing mode. I mean...who'd have thought that it could possibly mean desert/sand conditions??
Still he's probably no more clueless than the majority of dealers in southern Europe. 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

We will be going on Friday 12th which is a holiday here. Will be going for 7 days, some will be staying on for an extra 2 or 3 days in Essaouira.
Ian, the dodgy mechanic from Estepona will be going with Vince & Co. in his Tomcat. He was trying to convince me to go in the Disco as his support vehicle. I told him I would raher eat all the sand in the Sahara
What are the dates of the Protrax raid? We may bump into each other over there!
Our route will be: ESTEPONA-ALGECIRAS-CEUTA-TODRA GORGE-MIDELT-FEZ-ER RACHIDIA-MERZOUGA-ERG CHEBBI-ZAGORA-OUARZAZATE-MARRAKECH-ESSAOUIRA-CASABLANCA-RABAT-CEUTA-ALGECIRAS-ESTEPONA
In our group there will be 3 x Disco 3, 1x TOYOTA 100, 1xTOYOTA 80, 1 x TOYOTA KXR. We will have the usual LR vs. TOYOTA battles!
The Cayenne Turbo may be tagging along again! It is an awesome sight to see it at full chat climbing the dunes. The owner is a maniac and doesn't give a . In the video we were using a kinetic rope which broke the towing eye straight off an old Nissan. The shackle flew straight through the front grille. Luckily it didn't pierce the radiador. He was even luckier it didn't go through the windscreen!
I have some great footage of many trips all over Morocco. Maybe setting up an expedition company down here very soon. Watch this space........

I'll be there with Chris Tyler, Beaker & 110Tim under the title of 'Team Poteen' 8)
