Video through Stick D4 2013 |
|
Hi All,
I am reading through the posts quite offten and yesterday I received my new D4 HSE after I have returned my 2011 D4. As the new one has the ability to play DVD´s and movies through the front display I have tried to load movies on a stick. So far i managed that the systems plays DivX files but does not recognise any other. maybe there is another Mac user who can tell me how I can transfer movies I purchased in iTunes to the stick so I can watch them in the car?? Also, if anyone knows a turnaround to watch while driving (of course only for my wife and the kids) I am thankful for every tip. The car has the surround camera system but no TV tuner installed.
All the best from Germany

The problem I have is that I cannot get my itunes movies onto the stick as it has to be formatted in Fat32. This format allows uploads of about 4GB max. but my Die Hard movies are about 5 GB. I did not try to copy them on a DVD but I will in a minute and let you know if this works.

The Kingston Datatraveller is Fat32 only......currently downloading the first 3 Star Wars films from a Seagate 750 gb expansion portable drive......
When they're done I will come back "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

I realise it needs to be a FAT32 formatted stick but are the filetypes for the movie file .mp4 .mpeg .mov ect ? 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Was going to answer you straight away, but just deleted "Real Steel" (the only video we have watched in the car via stick) to make room for Star Wars
I will delete a couple of files to make room, and download Real Steel again off the Seagate and check later that a.it plays and b.the file type
We don't watch much in the car because the kids got naffed when it was audio only when the car was moving.... "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

My attempt to burn a movie on a DVD did not work. The car will not recognise the file. The filetype is m4p and the itunes movies are all DRM. So I guess you have to crack the DRm first and then transform it to a regular DVD format or into DIvX to load it on a stick?!

Does anyone know if the system reads .mov files. I found a program that removes DRM and converts it into .mov files.

Right...downloaded 3 films to the stick....2 will play through he D4'S USB port and one will not...
Pressing the "Info" button on the touchscreen of the car says that the 2 that will play are listed as DVDR Di
the one that will not (the re-loaded Real Steel) is listed as a DVD rip file...
I just need to check the Seagate as that would suggest there are different formats of Real Steel on the external Hard Drive, and we downloaded a different one from previously...
When I can fathom which format plays and which does not,we might be getting somewhere
ps it might not be tonight,I got soaked going out to the car "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...
