I return home on Wednesday or thereabouts and have promised Ray that I'd photograph mine. I believe it's a special edition sump guard too, but it looks the same as Ray's normal black ones.

Mine is so special edition that Ray commanded me not to tell anybody about its spec.

Just fitted mine, I noticed that there is a gap of about 1 inch between the front end of the guard and the front of the bumper. Is this the way it should be?

Yes, I have a gap between the top of the sump guard and the bumper. I took a photo of the gap with a 17mm ring spanner sitting in it, but Ray's phone is an old school phone, but he did say that there should be a gap.
I suppose it would mean that it would take a very severe impact for the sump guard to flex sufficiently to damage the bumper.

That gap is where your valet washes the mud out.A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

Photos of Ray's black sump guard fitted.
Finally uploaded some photos of Ray's black sump guard fitted. They're also in my gallery.
The first picture hasn't had its exposure tweaked, but the second version has to reveal shadow detail.
