Warranty Direct - daft questions re post repair warranty |
|
D4, sub 30k miles coming to end of manufacturers warranty. D4 is on 5 year service plan so servicing will remain via 'authorised' route.
After checking options (LR, ALA (RAC) etc) and spending hours reading the small print and comments on here I have taken out Warranty Direct plan for 3 years, uncapped labour and all options except media but still well within the remote buying deadlines if I need to change.
Spoke to claims dept and I'm aware that any replacement parts may not be in a LR branded box especially the engine (don't mention the C word!!!!!!!). Also informed that, due to location, all 'WD authorised repairers' within 60 mile radius are LR main dealers.
So the daft question......in the event of a WD repair has the standard 2 year LR part/labour warranty been valid....any thoughts or experience...(EDIT ) PS.. should clarify....will an equivalent 2 year period apply to a non LR boxed item for parts and labour
The real area I'm interested in is the engine since non LR recons seem to vary in terms of warranty from searches I've done but then I may not know what I'm looking at!!!.
Will be phoning WD on Monday to check as well.
Thanks for bearing with me...…. Club RLD spare wheel protection

Club its all black
Club D3 - it's gone
Club D4 - just arrived and still all black

No, only genuine LR parts have a 2yr warranty.
Differing aftermarket options have differing warranty periods, especially when it comes to engines
However, you would expect that if WD supply a part, and it fails again, you'd fully expect them to cover parts/labour costs again... My D3 Build Thread

I don't quite understand the question. If its a Land Rover part fitted it will have the LR warranty, if its another make it will be the warranty relevant to that part. I don't think WD "supply " any part . The owner has to authorise the investigation work in the first place and then WD have to agree with the result and authorise their contribution to the cost. I prefer that I pay and reclaim from WD as there is no argument as to title to the parts replaced.

I’ve gone the same a few months back, dealer rates uncapped etc, I asked the question also should the worst happen, three times it was recited back to me, I choose where it is repaired, they would not take it anywhere else for repair, it’s my choice, so with that in mind, a dealer will not fit non genuine parts, so hoping I never find out, but should the worst happen it’s a new genuine lump fitted.

Thanks for the replies so far......hope I didn't open a can of worms...
This comment following another search on here really sums it up
"I took out warranty direct policy at the beginning of March when the 3 year manufactures warranty ran out.
About 10 days later my crankshaft snapped, last week they authorised the claim which is in excess of 14K."
Suppose a D4 warranty is very different to paying £50 for a Hotpoint washing machine warranty !!!!! Club RLD spare wheel protection
