Check out my post here, it is the same old moans over and over again, no matter how many times you tell people, nobody is tricking anyone, you have to READ the policy and buy what you want, you get what you pay for they are not a charity. http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic88924.h...nty+direct

Don't worry it will happen again and again and again and again Rolling Eyes

You want to read it yourself, hoses and pipes are not covered on luxury care either. It's in the terms and conditions if you read them Whistle

Seems you might be disappointed as well.

At least people are reading the T & C's now for each policy Laughing

Playing Devil's Advocate, is this not rather a sweeping statement? Surely it depends on the age and value of the vehicle, your own mechanical competence, access to suitable 'indies' or garages, and most importantly the use of the vehicle?

Yes, for someone who is prepared to get on with major tasks, and who might only travel 5-8k per year in their car, putting money aside instead of a warranty might make sense. However, I need my vehicle and took the decision to 'pay up front' with an extended LR Approved Warranty for three years (by which time it will be 6.5 years old). In the past 12 months alone it has meant that I have had work carried out in excess of £7,000 - all by a main dealership, in a timeous manner with replacement vehicles provided and recovery from and back to our house (240mile round trip). Work completed (in past 9 months Rolling Eyes ) includes:

    Rear parking sensor loom
    Front suspension arms
    Rear suspension arms
    Tailgate latch
    Front wiper motor
    Both front hubs/wheel bearings
    Rear brake pipes
    Gearbox

Yes, it wouldhave cost less than £7k to get the parts from Steve and get D-Mikey to do the work, but still significantly more than I paid for the warranty. Similarly, tyhere have been times when I have had to argue my case, but thus far I am generally happy with response given

The best bit is that I still have 18 months of warranty to run, irrespective of mileage, and this continues to include MOT failure and Recovery etc.. I would estimate that by the time the warranty expires I'll have had the best part of £10k of work done - and that is assuming that the oil pump casing issue does not kill the engine in the meantime as I have an 09 model Smile

In essence, I guess I'm saying is that it is a case of horses for courses - do your research, read the various T&Cs and then make an informed decision. The warranty gives me peace of mind for a similar cost to my annual insurance premium, and based on past experience of owning LR vehicles I know which is more likely to be called upon!

I've been with WD for two years and found them very good, had way more work done than the premium I pay so quids in as far as I'm concerned.

Me too, but 3 1/2 years.

As I like to say, know what you've bought and don't expect it to be as good as a manufacturer's warranty. If you want that buy a sub 3 year old car. If your policy says it doesn't cover hoses then it doesn't cover hoses, simple as. You bought the policy, you need to know the limitations of it. Whatever you bought. Thumbs Up

If they find out you've ever left the tarmac, they don't have to pay at all !!!
When I questioned that on my policy they said it wasn't what they meant. Shocked

We're ok, we don't "use" them off road. It doesn't say we can't "abuse" them off road. Whistle Laughing

I have it in writing that off road is covered by Warranty Direct, just not competition or trial..
