WarrentyWise Revues

Hello, My Current Extended Warranty come to an end in a couple of Months on my 13 Plate D4 HSE.
I am looking around at quotes at the moment, has anyone any experience with WarrentyWise, or can you recommend another extended warranty that is good cover and is not going to break the bank.

See what Warranty Direct offer price wise. Their top cover now looks like their only option but prices have gone sky high for older cars. Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

I had warrantywise on my first D3, their no department worked well...............

Unless you can get wear and tear included I would just go for something like AA breakdown cover

It’s just insanity!! Facing the choice in 18 months time of going it alone or chopping the D4. The prices that are asking are well over the ouch threshold.

that's actually not that bad is it, £833 a year with 80K miles???? What do you want to pay? If its that too cheap its almost guaranteed not to pay out

Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed I missed the 3 year bit. Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

I misread that as 1 year, agreed that’s not bad at all considering the cover. Thumbs Up £4,538 quoted for mine for 3 years. 11 plate D4 with what will be 60 - 70k on it when renewal comes along. Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

Yes, Perhaps they have updated their calculating algorythm. I did a quote for my daughter's Mini Cooper roadster. 13 plate, 4 3/4 years old , 50k miles , all Mini service. The cost for 3 years was more than my 3 year (just coming up to) Disco 4 with between 20-30k miles on it. That made it feel like a bargain.
What that tells me is that I really need to do 3 years now rather than a year at a time even if not planning to hold on to the car for more than 1-2 years more. It seems age and mileage are more heavily weighted.

I've checked the policy document before I buy a warranty direct warranty for the Disco. I was unable to get them to confirm whether or not I would need an inspection first. Also, I can't find any mention of adding value with new parts or betterment as it is known. I know this advice is to get this removed. Is it this section?

We may want to repair or recondition
certain parts if it is deemed appropriate.
· We reserve the right to require your
repairer to use parts we source via the
administrator. We may source new,
reconditioned or service exchange parts
and supply such parts to your repairer
directly

Also I noticed this which others have mentioned. Is it worth pushing to get this removed?

Breakdown or damage caused by wear and tear
in the first 90 days of this policy (unless this
policy is a renewal or an extension of a
manufacturer’s warranty) irrespective of
whether or not a pre-warranty inspection was
carried out.

Or this?

We will not pay for the breakdown of any
insured part within the first 90 days of
your policy starting (unless it is a
renewal) where the breakdown of that
part is caused primarily or in whole by
wear and tear.

Having dealt with most of the warranty companies there are only two to consider in my opinion.

Landrover extended. Always been helpful and covers items without quibble. Notwithstanding the known issue with ‘manufacturers defects’ which puts a big question mark over the major items, or some commonly failing items.
I feel this used to be less of a problem when Landrover would relent and cover these items, but it seems that CRC are much tougher in their attitude!

Warrantydirect. Again very helpful. Not had much they want to reject. Need wear and tear cover, need betterment removed, but there is still the usual excess of £50 per claim, even if there are two jobs at the same time (2x £50).

As for the others I’ve dealt with, including the ones in the title, well, if it was me, I’d just set light to the cash, as that is less stressful than trying to claim Banging Head Banging Head Banging Head

Steve

Problem is both Warranty Wise and Warranty Direct (the two leading companies?) will only insure/warrant up to 120K miles............nothing really for the mileages seen on Discos.
