Excellent, you can also seperate the cover over the two radiators enough to get between (plastic clips hold it's on). I did this on TFC's recommendation and loads of rubbish was flushed you.
Thumbs Up

Works a treat... Thumbs Up

My approach in the end was to combine the method described in this thread with occaisional direct spraying from the front.

I used a garden hose spray attachment on it's strongest setting and (carefully) directed that onto some of the most blocked places from the front.

I was also able to cover a lot of the rear of the radiator with the same hose attachment as it was just small enough to get it down between the blades of the fan.

By using the higher pressure I was able to (finally) force out a lot of the mud and sand that was blocking the lower half of the radiator.

tried to clean mine out before i went on holiday. I got a lot of the clay out but fear I will still have to take it to bits again during the coming months and give it a good clean....... then replace it with a different I/C Wink

Pictures to show why you need to do this...

A few pictures showing why this needs to be done...

Full of mud and clay...

More sand collected than Brighton Beach...

And it gets everywhere...

Having spent 4 hours jetwashing most of hogmoor from the underside, I looked up this very useful post to clear the intercooler and rad, guess what, another bucket full of sand (OK only a kiddies sand bucket) and thats before I used the hose to blow through 'back to front'. I just scooped up about 8 handfuls of sand that had collected in the bottom of the rad cowling.

I would have thought that a few drain holes wouldn't go amiss, its not as if the engine bay is sealed and it if it isnt sealed then stuff that gets in has to come out!! - might get the dremel out!

I love off roading but I much prefer mud to sand!

cheers
Dave

Any chance this could be made a sticky or added to the Wiki?

I still think this topic should be made a sticky. Surely a friendly Mod will agree.

You're assuming a mod (friendly Very Happy or not Evil or Very Mad ) is reading this thread.....
Best way to get our attention is to click the triangle and report the post (you can report good things too) then one of us will pick up on it.
Anyway.... rather than yet another sticky it would be far better to either link to this thread from the Wiki or put the info on a Wiki page.... you don't need a mod to do that....
