Water 4 Petrol

Has anyone tried this system on a D3 to save fuel?

http://www.water4petrol.net/

Some extraordinary fuel figures have been reported, 20-70% savings, depending on the vehicle. This is available in Knysna so it may be a good excuse to visit our paradise!

In the late 70s my brother had a water injection
system fitted to his V8 petrol torana, seemed to improve his fuel economy.
Not sure id want to be the one to test it on a diesel

Basically, the system consists of a mixture of bicarb of soda in distilled water which, when a current is passed through a stainless steel mesh, it produces hydrogen. This is fed into the air intake system. Diesel installation is the easiest & can be removed at any time.

A building contractor in Knysna is having his entire fleet of diesel trucks & cars (14) done right now. Will wait to hear the results.

Sounds better than perpetual energy !

You will need more energy than it will make

eg (this is just a simplistic example to explain why it can't work)

10 Units electrical energy (from car alternator) -> electrolysis 70% efficient 7 Units (HHO) -> Engine (27% efficient) ~ 2 Units -> Alternator 87% efficient ....

basically you will have to add (via fuel) 8 Units of energy to get the same results as you currently get.

The effeciency of making hydrogen is also somewhat optimistic in the above example

Cheaper to drive with the handbrake on (if it worked Wink ), than to try this rubbish

Ummmmm. Think about this from a diferent point of view Idea It may work in the same way as LPG suplement into diesel which acts as a catalist to increase the efficincy of the burn rate Whistle
So hydrogen may do the same thing as LPG Question
This if so would be much simpler than LPG Thumbs Up

back to the topic

Hi Ren

I checked this out a while back, and it does look a bit like snake oil. I decided not to bother, seeing as i had already acheived some fuel efficiency gains with the tune, plus the installation was pretty messy from what I could see in the pics. Now that there is a local guy, maybe it's worth another look

Please keep us posted - it will be interesting Very Happy

I just love this Banter

I remember my Dad using some kind of water injection system to improve performance and economy at least 30 years ago and that was when petrol was cheap and that was on a RS mexico that ended up in flames.

My view is "and its my view only" if there were fuel adiditives that gave you much better fuel economy, surely the petro chemical companies would be using them to there advantage. And if there were ways with Magnets, Water, CIder (my favorite) that would help, wouldnt our green car manufacturers incorporate them

My view its the placebo effect.

BANG Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Oil companies wont use anything that will dramatically improve fuel efficiency... they loose money. The government would hate it too... they loose money.

Essentially if anything does exist it will be drip fed at a level to maintain tax and duty and profit income.

If there's a magic bullet, then the magicians assistant has hidden it. Maybe Debbie Maggie has it Whistle

I remember a scottish regional news slot many years ago.
Some chap had invented/discovered something similar.
On the programme, the AA were overseeing what he was doing [in his single wooden garage], but they were not privy to his 'gadget'.
We saw him widen the gap on the sparkplugs and pour water into the fuel system.
He fired up the car and he and the AA went for a spin.

I believe he had interest from an oil company.
Enough said ... they probably bought the technollogy for a pittance and promptly shelved it.
