Water Carriers

I like to go car camping and always make do with buying large bottles of water but would rather something reusable which I can fill before I leave, and on the road. Currently preparing a Disco 3 which is going to effectively be a diet overlander. At the moment I don't want to be installing permanent and expensive water tanks.

What is everyone using? I guess the usual Jerry cans etc but I see some products on the US market like water bricks and aqua bricks and wondered if there's equivalents here?

So what are you using and how are they stored on your car........

I use a 20l water Jerry. I modified it by fitting a tap into the bottom side, so I don’t have to tip it up every time I want to use it. It sits on the tailgate nicely, and the tap hangs over the edge.

Also fits into the Jerry can holder on the Series 2a.

Usually carry a 20L jerry can on the roof, have history of forgetting to get it down before setting up the FW though, I've also got a Frontrunner can with a tap.

Thanks gentlemen. On the roof there’ll be a tent so whatever I use will likely be in the cab, although the tent can take some weight on it. Whatever I get would probably be best placed on top of the drawer system.... so now I have to decide size and volume....

Thanks for that Jester! Look pretty good! Seem to have a limited selection available in the UK but I guess I could always buy on their US store.

Looking at the price of the Rotopax then it may be worth you while speaking with TekTanks here in the UK (once they open up again). We have previously used them for a variety of water and fuel tanks for our boats.

Tektanks look good and decent value too. The guy designing and building the drawer system will give me the dimensions soon and then I can see what is the most appropriate solution I hope. I like that Tektaks have flat edges on many of the tanks and various different shapes, good for packing into corners etc....
