Water in passenger footwell. |
|
Just pulled the carpet of my Disco 3 and it's full of water. When I opened the back door water spilled out on the running boards. Any ideas to save me trawling through posts?

Try 'trawling' through the posts, they are there for a reason and will provide all the ideas you need. Lots of wisdom on here regarding wet footwells that doesn't need to be reboiled.

I asked mainly as most replies centre around sunroof seals, for which I don't have. I'll keep looking.

External A pillar trim pull it off fit new clips use a sealant of your choice when refitting the trim. Also at the top under the roof rail fitting can leak into the front cabin. Bottom of the A pillar is a known Ingress LRTIME on the tube did a great video yes a d3 but basically the same

Before you do ANYTHING else, drill a tiny drain hole in the lowest point you find in the pan & get the water out. Longer water stays there the more electrolysis will take place with unbelievably tedious consequences !!
Best method I know is lift the fat bunch of loomed wires up from the "gutter-like" recess in the floorpan just inside of and parallel to the sills. Very carefully drill a hole (3mm ?) so it JUST breaks through the metal pan. DON'T allow the drill to penetrate anything further below, there are other unknowns under there which might suffer from being punctured. (But allowing water to drain down there has never caused me any trouble, it can soon be seen dripping to the ground)
Park the car with passenger side lower than driver's side in order to tilt the water into the drain hole.
Worry about plugging the hole later, and also worry about STOPPING the leak later - but drain that water SOON !!!
Also check the other footwells for water - driver's side also has electrical gubbins hidden beneath foam under the carpet, any water down there has consequences.
