Water Tank from Hell
We just lined this tank with Butyl Rubber what a ball ache.
Welded column sleeves around the columns.
Had the liner pre made then cut it on site around the columns an joined it back to its self.
Welded the base of the columns to the liner floor.
There was also separate infill chamber
Nonwoven Geotextile Membrane going in
Columns Lined
Butyl Liner cut around columns
Infill Chamber
Completed

In this weather you should have filled it half full of water and had a swim to cool down tested it I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

Not Dumb
It holds water for the sprinkler system at the new ASDA Stoke Park Ipswich. Normally it would be an above ground Galv Steel Tank (like the one shown behind the crane below) but space was limited so an underground concrete tank was constructed and we lined it

Andrew
did'nt realise tanks were your gig
whilst most of the tanks at work are stainless
we have a big sucker in the north block here ( 100,000 gal) , a cast and riveted job, which was sorely in need of a refurb, so we got it blasted and painted with a two pack paint about six months ago, now it starting to get a little crusty again, in fact the whole steel structure of the building is going to poo, I suppose the fact that the water is treated with 11ppm of chlorine is not helping the decay
we might have to revisit it in the future and can put your name in the hatNine-tenths of wisdom is being wise in time.
My jobs just so dull I would be to embarased to admit to what I do after that. Cool

Please do We can line tanks with all sorts of membranes so we will have one to suit your application is your tank open topped Ideally it should be sealed but be vented to the outside of the building. This will help protect the steelwork. In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Britvic are never ones known to spend money correctly
the tank was originally built in the 60's and was open topped, in the last few years it was re-commisioned and we had a bit of a faulty towers incident with pigeons
so in our best style it was cheaply covered with insulated pvc coated roof cladding
what can i say
your 100% correct in saying that sealing and venting to the outside was the right way, but instead the save a few quid at the time and now have to replace gantrys and cat walks all over the tower and also main steel structure is being corroded
a disaster in the making
needless to say when the momnent is right the proffesional name will be dropped in the right place Nine-tenths of wisdom is being wise in time.

I am a water treatment specialist and 11ppm chlorine is not advisable - what is the water for?
I can also sympathize with the tank lining - hot work in there - I just did a job for City of Edinburgh.

I work as an engineer on the plant, it was originally installed by AWE, but over the years its has grown legs and arms and we had mod'd it , extended and even written our own software, under QC direction and spec, but hey it still tastes good in the bottleNine-tenths of wisdom is being wise in time.
