Waterproofing a trailer tent

Just dropped a clanger on a 1991 Conway Challenger folding trailer tent, I used some upholstery cleaner to remove some dirty marks from the inside and guess what it leaks like a sieve 😡 it’s obviously been waterproofed in the past but I didn’t think lightly wiping the inside would remove it, can anyone recommend a waterproofing for the canvas

Grangers Fabsil (Big Tin, not the aerosol ) and a decent hand spray bottle.

Do the lot whilst your at and at least you know its covered.

Fabsil Gold all the way, I even bought an electric sprayer off Amazon and it made the whole job way easier.

Keep it off the poly windows when spraying though as it leaves marks, or miss-shapes the poly material

You dont have too but I usually clean any algae or dirty marks with Fenwicks tent/awning cleaner.

Dont use tonnes of it as you’ll spend all day trying to get soap out of it. Use cold water to rinse it off, not hot.

I use a sponge or a soft brush for stubborn marks, no stiff brushes

Then proof

Hi,

looking in Boyes (shop Rolling Eyes ) today and spotted the Fenwicks stuff, the proofer was about £11
(did not mention Gold?)
it comes in a bottle with hand sprayer attached, forgot to look at the volume but looked about 500ml

Thumbs Up

After the fenwicks cleaner, it has to dry before re-proofing yes. Some others dont, you can apply the re-sealer when wet.

If you have not bought the proofer, Fenwicks makes one too. But I ve found Fabsil the best (not tried the Fabsil gold, but can only presume its better again because it says Gold!)
