So i havent made a claim this year and its my first year with them, I have extrcare with 12 month upgrade they want £631.35 + £50 excess for each separate claim. So a £100 more than last years cover.

Should i go for it or haggle. Does it sound fair to you guys that have delt with WD for many years ??

They always do deals, so I'd haggle.

Haggle!!! They do 2 year deals as well so if you're happy with keeping a warranty up (IMHO you'd be mad not to) then you might be able to haggle a deal for that time. I have heard of 3 years cover.

WD do three year cover.

Get quotes then haggle.

When you have got the best rate ask for 13 months cover for the cost of 12, 26/24 or 39/36.

I could only get 38 months for the cost of 36.

No idea re 2 years but WD cover is better and covers far more, including wear & tear. Only real difference is the inconvenience of having it authorised in advance (which happens with LR as well) then paying & claiming but I've never had an issue. Had loads of suspension bits replaced that LR warranty wouldn't have covered. Remember it's not a LR warranty, that's just branding on a Car Care Plan warranty. Re the LRA side of the LR/CCP warranty, never found that LRA did anything other than send out a tow truck for my various breakdowns, have RAC through Tesco Clubcard. Cheap as chips. Smile

Have had Warr Direct for last 2 years and used them a lot. The range of parts they cover has been great. My only concern has been the amount of money they claw back from the claim. They took 20% off all parts as my car had done 70,000, they always tried to split the claim down into multiple claims to make me pay multiple £50 excesses and they often refused to pay the full dealer labour charges. They also refused to pay for any wires, tubes, bolts, straps, brackets etc. which were needed to refit the broken parts.

Having said all that, they never refused a claim.

I paid £600 for a 13 month policy.

You can remove the betterment clause by haggling, I had to oay a extra £30 to remove it. I would have had to pay 50% of parts so well worth removing.

ckra haggle in "no betterment" next time, then no 20% off parts. Thumbs Up Re what is a claim vs £50 excess just coz you choose to present your car to the garage with, say, three faults doesn't mean that should be one excess compared with three visits & 3 excesses. There are limitations on all post manufactuer's warranties, it's part of the fun of running an older car that is highly complicated and not the most reliable tool in the box. If peeps don't want that then they need to spend the money and keep in the 3 years LR warranty.

WD also do "Lite" versions of their warranties where you have to breakdown by the roadside and call The AA/RAC/etc. if they can't fix at the roadside, the warranty kicks in as normal. Ts & Cs: 5 claims per year, total value of each claim = vehicle value, 2 levels of cover, indy (£60p/hr, dealer £200p/hr) must be serviced as per schedule, if dealer rates, must be dealer serviced.

Our 07 40K mls D3 HSE was £180 for 2 years Thumbs Up (we had AA anyway)

I have the same on my 03 330ci and the betterment removal was £50.

have claimed recently for a replacement suspension compressor and claim was authorised 2 hours after informing them and paid within 10 days without any fuss

To bring balance to The Force, I think you'd be off your trolley not having a warranty for a Disco. Whilst you may be lucky and have had nothing go wrong, that luck could run out at any time. Personally I'm better off to the tune of several grand at least for not running 2 D3s without a warranty. Putting a few tenners away each month just wouldn't look at it.

And The Force is in balance. Whistle

Completely agree with DSL. In 2 years my previous D3 had 9 problems requiring warranty, most costing several hundred pounds and 2 costing well over £1,000.

I'm hoping the D3 I've just bought will be a lot more reliable, but in the first 2 weeks the EPB actuator has failed. I'm extremely glad I've got a warranty.

I love the D3 but there appears to be a lot to go wrong with it .... witness all the comments on this forum.
