Webasto Heater

Only had my D4 HSE (Oct 09) a week now so just getting my head round all the bits and pieces.

Under the bonnet is a Webasto heater, I read the manual to see if this was the park heating but it does not come up on the touch screen to set the timer so i assume this option was not ticked.

My question is how does this heater work now? I assume its for the engine if the conditions are below -20?

I read on here that you can retro fit the park heating? is it worth it.

Many Thanks all

Woah, a summer (?) FBH question!

Most of this page is for the D3, but I believe the automatic operation section applies to the D4 as well: http://www.disco3.co.uk/wiki/index.php/Fuel_Burning_Heater

You can retrofit the factory-type park heater functionality which is available on the D4 (all D3 solutions are aftermarket).

Has it been so cold over there? 8)

Nice section Martin! Hadn't seen that before now Bow down

@thehappysailer -20 Shocked Glad its starts at <6! When the FBH is not working you notice it takes longer to warm up in the car on cold mornings/days.

Thumbs Up

Thanks all! Would really like to put on a remote for the heater before the winter and as theres only about 130 days till the start of December its worth planning in now Laughing

But on a serious note, if the car does not have the park heating does it just warms the car up quicker once your moving? is this correct?

Yes, it's to improve coolant warm-up to decrease engine wear and speed up cabin heating.

I would go for the remote option as when winter returns (next week Laughing ) there is nothing better than blipping your remote on a frosty morning and then 30 minutes later going out to a warm defrosted car Thumbs Up and if you had a heated steering wheel, well that would just be the icing on the cake Ner Ner
