My weekend outting and damage report

I went wheeling with a couple friends from our club over the weekend. We had my Disco3, a D90, and D110. We spent two days hitting some of the hardest trails in the state of Minnesota. Mesabi Trail, and another trail inside an OHV park called Money Talks. The trails vary from mud, rock, very sharp rocks, and boulders along lots and lots of trees and tree stumps to get hung up on.

Last year my truck really took a beating on the Mesabi trail so I only agreed to do 3/4 of it, skipping the last part that damaged my truck so badly.

Started with this in Super Extended Mode which I stayed at since every time I reset the height it would just move up to extended mode on the next rock hit.

What are the odds of this happening on any trail at any time. I call it the One in a Million shot! The stick exited through the headlight washer on top of the bumper.

This doesn't look good! There were 3 places on Money Talks that were similar to this but bigger boulders!

In the end my guys got me through with minimal damage. Took a few rock hits to the body panels but could have been so much worse. All in all a great weekend of wheeling!!! Very Happy

I'm throwing in a pic of the 110 which is an absolute beast of an off-roader and can go through anything.

The unfortunate moment of slipping off a rock a little too close to the trees.

All three of us had some type of damage - the 90 broke the roof rack on two different tree impacts, the 110 got the dent you see above, cracked window, and bent a super heavy duty track rod on a tree stump which we straightened using the winch on the 90. The Disco3 took some body damage and headlight washer. Like I said, a very good weekend overall. After this, we all drove them home 3.5 hours going 80MPH.

Excellent, looks like a great trip but a bit too rough for my shiny D4.

The guys I was wheeling with are hard hitters, and I was just playing follow the leader and secretly hoping I wouldn't completely destroy my truck and wrack up expensive repairs. So far about $45 for the headlight washer jet. The paint and body damage is just more badge of honor stuff, I'm not looking to add, but if it happens it happens. People are always surprised to see my LR3/Disco 3 on the trails and always say, "wow, nice truck, I wouldn't bring that thing out here". Then they start to look at all the armor, dents, and scratches and know I mean business.

My steering wheel was turned about 5 degrees to the right at the beginning of the trails, but by the end it now sits about 30 degrees to the left. I came down off a rock and the wheel spun violently and flung my hand smashing into my iPad RAM mount. (I was lucky as I could have easily broke my thumb, fingers, wrist). So, a wheel alignment is much needed now but I was waiting until the end of the season to have that done anyway.
