Hi,
Am Keem and I have a 2008 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE.

My mechanic tells me my Turbocharger is gone and I am looking to buy a new one.

To this end I was inquiring which the OEM brand for the turbo? Am currently grappling between Garret and Borg warner. Which is the OEM brand?

Thanks

Morning, My first post. Here in New Hampshire 1 hr drive north of Boston, Mass US
2006 LR3 4.0 petrol, bought new and now w/ 197k mile / 317k km
Treated her well, and she I. The love affair continues. But she needs some help and I refuse to pay exorbitant dealer hourly rates any more. They already have about $18k of mine over the years.
Price of admission to the LR family. Now retired so have the time.
Pretty good with my hand but not a professional mechanic.
Past experience is mostly American Muscle. Chevy Impala Super Sport in the garage at present occupying my wife's spot which I refuse to part with.
A variety of fault codes I am now chasing and researching. Looking forward to dialoging with those "in the know"
Ben

Just joined

Hi just to say hello
A work colleague who also has a Disco4 recommended the forum
Had mine from new in 2012 changing 'in' from a Jeep Grand Cherokee - Discovery is so much better ! I use mine for business travel and towing a twin axle caravan.
Look forward to 'joining in'
Cheers

Hello!

Just joined and already reading lots of good stuff. I have an early tdv6 and live in the Snowy Mountains, a part of Australia that gets down to -7 degrees. Unsurprisingly, however, most Aus Disco’s come with hot weather kit only. Is there such a thing as a complete FBH kit I can buy and retrofit? I’ve already read the great FBH post by The Mad Hat Man, and I’m going searching for more. Any pointers greatly appreciated, thanks.

Hi Everyone,

I picked up my first 2009 Discovery 3 HSE a few weeks back and loving it so far! My Dad owned a freelander 2 for a good while and now has a discovery sport. I only discovered this forum shortly after I got the car and so far have spent more time on here than in the car itself. I'm a member of some other car forums and I have to say the info on this site is outstanding! I currently working through the 35 pages of how to do the RR mod to the sat nav, seems to be a case of cutting one wire, obtaining a light sensor and then hopefully getting an iid tool so I can fit a reversing camera.

Hello :)

Hi
What a fantastic site and fountain of knowledge.
I’ve recently bought an 06 Discovery 3 “S” model ( with lots of faults )and in the process of doing it up , being used for short commute to and from work and used for light off roading for fishing and shooting activities.
I’ve had the front bushes done and it’s booked in tomorrow for decat pipe and Egr blanking and front ARB bushes and an oil temp sensor , have also bought an RS500 intercooler so waiting on bits and bobs to arrive to have a go at that too,I will apologise for any annoying messages or grammar and spelling mistakes in advance Smile
Kind Regards
Ian

Hi all

New to the forum, put a deposit down yesterday on MY15 D4 HSE Lux, 30k 1 previous owner, FSH - take delivery next week. Had a 51 plate Series 2 a number of years ago....always liked the Discovery. Can’t take to the D5. I’m part ex-ing a BMW X3....there’s 8 months motoring I’ll never get back.

Enjoyed reading similar posts of people waiting to get their new D4, as is the rule, will post a photo next week!

disco3 tailgate

Hi all, just registered to forum. I have a disco 3 2.7TDV6 on a '58 plate. I love it warts and all. Live in Hartlepool. Have visited as guest before but now I need some help/advice. Just fitted new actuator for upper liftgate as old unit stopped working last week. Have all trim off tailgate so could see everything but new actuator not working. Could the problem be a relay and if so where can I find it? I am bit in the dark as car electrics not my scene. Possibly new actuator is faulty but I would hardly think so. I can't hear any noise at all from it though Thanks in anticipation.

Maybe this will help:

Just saying hi 👋,

I have a d3 I use daily, for green laning and camping, it replaced both my defender and Freelander.

I will plan to get in plenty of short travels this year with the roof tent as soon as I decide how I want to have it set up
