HI, I am Hans and own my Disco3 since Jan 2009.
Modifications are LR snorkel, BF Goodrich A/T 265 R17 tires and rear seats removed in order to permanently fit my 90Ltr Fridge/Freezer, and next to it the air compressor.
I live with my wife Kaz in South Africa and have been to Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and of course all over South Africa.
Original Continental 4x4 tires got cut (both left front and rear same time) on a bush road after about 1 year, so I replaced then immediately with BF.
No more problems and never got stock in any game reserve in the above mentioned countries.
Best luxury and most capable off-road vehicle ever.
I worked mostly in Lesotho and to drive to work I drove 2 days there and 2 days back, about 1300 kms one-way from Gordon's Bay to Maseru.
Retired now for about 2 years and tinkering with all kinds of electronic projects.

Hi everyone.
Today I put a deposit down on a 2007 D3 HSE. Hopefully I’ll pick it up at the weekend. Never owned LR before and looking forward to owning a vehicle that’s capable and no doubt will keep me busy.

Welcome
First thing to check is to see if the oil pump has been replaced with the later type, the old one has a weakness in the casting where the timing belt tensioner attaches. If it fails it will destroy the engine. Andrew

Hello again everyone! I'm a returning member as after selling our 2014 Scotia Grey Disco 4 back in 2018 my membership drifted. Having tried 10 other cars which have either been uncomfortable as sin, crap or just too small I have today put a deposit down on a 2015 <60k miles Disco 4 SE Tech in Santorini Black. My current car is a Disco Sport Landmark which I have only had for 2 months and I have found it not that economical tbh with at best 38mpg (Managed 42mpg in my Disco 4) it is also lacking in boot space for all the gear we haul about whilst travelling and actually its just a fat car. So I have gone back to what I consider the best car I have ever had, the Disco 4. I have driven the Disco 5 when working up in the highlands and had considered that, however prices are silly at the moment so feel the Disco 4 will fulfil the comfort and space need for the foreseeable future. As always I look forward to enjoying the help and info this site provides.

Time for some modifications and advice needed please! |
|
Hi All,
Am new to the forum. Have had my TDV6 XS D3 (2006) for several years now, with no modifications whatsoever (!). Loving her more and more as time goes on. Used her to cart the family round Scotland, Wales and Cornwall.
Now the family is growing, we need to take more stuff with us, which leads me to a roof rack question for you all. I'm wondering if there is a roof rack system that also allows for a box to put on top of the rack, similar to the Thule type boxes that I see all over the place? Am I asking for too much? Or should I give up?
Sorry for the silly question, if it is silly. If the answer is no, is a Prospeed Roof Rack the most appropriate?
Any help and advice gratefully received.
Thanks,
GKU

Welome to the forum
There are no silly questions, i would ask the qusetion in my discovery section of the D3 forum and ask for photos of what members have done before. It shouldnt be a problem attaching a roof box to a roof rack you may need to get some brackets made. Andrew
