Realised I’ve not posted in here yet…hi!

We bought a 2014 HSE in black last weekend.

I’ve not been allowed to drive it much so far, but seems like an awesome car!

I used to have a Defender for a while, it’s nice to be back in a Land Rover

Welcome all newcomers.
If you have a fault you are looking for help with can I suggest that you firstly use the search facility in the menus at the top, to search for information on your fault. There is a wealth of information on this forum with lots of information.
If you cannot find the information you need, I suggest you write up your issue as an fault in the relevant section for your vehicle below ( D3 or D4). That way you are much more likely to get advice from others that may assist.
Good luck all
 Gary

Germany 2015 Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 HSE Auto Santorini BlackDiscovery 4

Hi All,

I simply love this car (2015 3.0, SDV6 HSE) but the older it gets ( around 145 kkm) the more issues occur. This by itself is not a big surprise but i recently discovered that i can save hundrets and thousands of Euros by just attempting to fix some stuff myself ...
My most recent 3 issues were: water in the footwell (had this twice and new connection tubes now fixed it hopefully forever) , the Actuator of the tailgate gave up ( fixed it myself with the help of youtube) and .. a reocurring issue and the reaon why i joined the forum in order to find more answers: its the third year in a row that my main battery gives up after approx. 12 - 14 month - hence way too early. I had the car at LR and they tested for minimal current ongoingly draining ghe battery but couldnt find anything (the attmept was 300 e) .. Now the same again .. cranking voltage is dipping below 9.5. v and its soon that its not enough to start. I will now search the forum for answers - in case anyone reads this and can set me up with a tip or link to a thread i would be most greatful. Kind regards, Tom
p.s. Just in case 3 add. points: yes I buy quality batteries, yes I also drive enough longer distance trips, and no, unfortunately I do not have a OBD2 device (think I have to get one ? which one ? )

Hi All!

Kleber here, living in England at the moment.

I have been in the forum for a while, but I guess I forgot to introduce myself.

I have got a 2009 Discovery 3 called Dorothy. Have had it for 2 years, so far I have been through:
_The Christmas tree crisis
_The Park Brake light from hell

And currently going through leaky suspension, at least with help of this forum I found its location and will fix it next weekend.

Currently in that moment of thinking "should I sell it and get a characterless and dull trouble free car?"

We will see... we will see...

Hi all.
After 16 years of ownership our beloved Toyota Rav4.2 bit the dust a couple of weeks ago. Underbody rust.
Sad but not too sad because for a couple of years I've known what would replace it - and it arrives this Thursday, Nov 21st.
Jan 2010 Discovery 4 XS.
I am painfully aware of the number of problems that potentially await (my friends have kindly pointed this out) but hey ho!
I am not a professional but I like a bit of spanner. I hope not too much though.
So - my first question.
Cambelt was done about 20K miles ago.
There was a main dealer service (the 175K one) in April 2023, actual mileage 143,507. Nothing since.
Now mileage is 149,000 and nothing has been done since the 2023 service.
For my amusement I enquired the cost of the next service at our local LR dealer. £916.00.
So that's not happening.
I reckon first step is a service kit for oil and filters at home.
Anything else I should do as a matter of urgency?
All the best, Bridger

Hi Folks, this is my second D3 and I picked it up for just £475 at auction. I'm getting it MOT'd and have put together a new video to introduce it. managed to fix the steering issue with a zip tie. Check it out...

Greetings from Smiffie.

Hi Guys.

I just wanted to be polite and introduce myself and hope I am able to add to the vast knowledge that this club offers, as well as pick a few brains.

Be gentle with me and whilst I do understand the protocol of forums, I might stick my foot in it occasionally unintentionally. If I do then stop me from posting after about 9pm because that's when the So-Co starts to take affect.

Normally I wouldn't join because I am familiar with the D3, 4 and 5, but no one can know it all so I do need a bit of help /guidance on one fault code that doesn't seem to be listed let alone talked about, so I will get to that in the relevant section.

Short and polite, thank you for having me.

Hailing from Wisbech Cambs

Switzerland 2007 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Auto Stornoway GreyDiscovery 3
Hello from Switzerland

I own a 2007 TDV6 and it's a dream come true for me as I do about 50,000 km year travelling around Europe and Africa.
Fun fact, or not so fun: The car broke down on the drive home from where I bought it three weeks ago.
The cooling pipe to the AGR had burst.
The car has only 308,000 km on the clock and the engine runs great. Even on a cold start (0°C) there is no, really no, rattling in the engine. It was maintained very well until about 260'000 km. Then the history got a bit vague, but I know from the first owner that 1'500 km after he sold it, it had a catastrophic engine failure. Well, it was fixed somehow, but I don't know how and with what parts. So it's like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're going to get until you open it. But hopefully that will not be necessary any time soon.
Anyway, I don't drive the car now because it has some problems with the fuel temperature sensor, but as far as I know it's probably a bad connection. First I will service the car next week, including an original LR diesel filter, and then I will track down any faults. And I will switch to 5W40 to preserve the engine as long as possible.
Now I understand why you become a mechanic when you own a Land Rover. And my first purchase was the icarsoft LR v3.0. But I also learnt that you should buy this tool before you buy the Disco... too late. This is so useful and actually makes fault finding kind of fun, especially when so many solutions can be found in this forum. But to be honest, a reliable car would be great too Wink
Three weeks and I'm already totally hooked.
