Last Thursday, I was driving down the A63 dual carriageway into Hull when a bit of plywood was thrown up in front of me by the wind. Wasn't too bothered - thought it would just hit the Mantec plate and bounce off - but when I got back to the office saw that the plastic surrund for the n/s foglamp had disappeared! No other damage whatsoever.
Anyway, rang local dealer - I won't embarrass them but their name rhymes with Pratstone. Was told it would take five days to get one and then I would have to have it painted by a 'body shop' because they either came in primer or some natural colour ("to save us having to keep lots of different colours in stock, you understand"). I pointed out I couldn't understand why, since until MY2008, most bumpers were black, that I couldn't have a black one - but it wasn't as easy as that.
Since, the next day we were due to have a weekend break at our favourite hotel on the side of Windermere, I rang Lakeland. John in parts - totally different - "don't have one in stock but I am sure I can get one for tomorrow - give me a ring before you set off".
Sure enough, when I rang on Friday morning, John had it and I picked it up on Saturday - and what's more it must be the cheapest spare part on a Disco at just over £3!! Many thanks John - most impressed.
How is it that some dealers - Lakeland - Westover and Duckworths go out of their way to help and yet, some others are an utter and complete waste of space? I was taught to be cautious.

I used to be a tech at that east yorkshire dealership when it was a family run garage. Started on the slippery slope when C. D. Bramell took over around 2001. I left about a year after that, closely followed by the rest of the workshop !!!

Wasn't meant to be a definitive list of ALL good dealers - just those I had experience of I was taught to be cautious.
