Wheel Arch Seal/U section

Can anyone advise on the part number for the crappy piece of 'U' section that fits on the rear wheel arch please?

Mine have started to rot and I wan to get them fixed before it takes the arch. Didn't bother on my Freelander and the arch started to rot.

Now we have the warmer weather, I'm going to replace them and also going to take off all the plastics along the sills and clean out all the crud that accumulates in there.

Anyone else done this? Is it much of a job to remove the sill plastic work?

Is it worth putting any anti corrosion treatment on there before re-fitting plastic work? (e.g. lanoguard, Dinitrol etc)

I think you want CLB000010. I replaced mine 4-5 years ago. They had gone to Censored and were looking like some kind of mush, really.

Removing the plastics isn’t terribly difficult.. Have a defibrillator near you, just in case, when you take a look underneath. Whistle

If you’re intending to mend the problem - get rid off all the rust with a wire brush, apply rust converter, apply rust protector, etc. and do it properly. There are a few stories with good pictures of the worm involved.

You can buy the same stuff off eBay for about 1/4 the cost! I bought 4m and it was ample for what’s needed… I’ll try and dig out the link as it was on here last year sometime Thumbs Up

Replaced both my rear wheel arch trims today. The old ones had gone all saggy. Nice surprise, the arches showed no sign of rust at all . Managed to replace the trim by sliding it on without removing any of the liners or sill covers, just washed out all the accumulated crap with a pressure washer.
Whilst I had the wheels off I removed the rear mud flaps which I’d fitted 7 years earlier. I remember thinking when fitting them, why have a steel reinforcing bracket in such a vulnerable place. It was painted but made of mild steel I think. This is what remained when I removed them.
I thought about replacing the mud flaps but in the end I’ve refitted them without the metal brackets. See how they go. They seem sturdy enough without.
