Which one would you go for? XS or HSE
So in a bit of a quandary here.
As reported on another thread I was looking at purchasing a 2012 HSE from Cargiant. However I have seen and been offered a good deal on a 2014 XS with the panoramic roof (but no heated steering wheel) for approximately £1000 more. The XS is Landrover approved whereas the HSE is not and I would have to buy an aftermarket Warranty.
HSE spec is obviously attractive but not sure that there is that much else between the two.
Thanks for your thoughts.

For piece of mind I would go for the XS, especially if it's a well specced one.
The only thing I actually wanted on an HSE that wasn't standard on the XS, was the electric seat pack with armrests. Although some XS's do have this as an option.
In the end I just looked at HSE's because I got fed looking at some cracking XS's that didn't have the seat pack. And the ones that did were usually either high mileage or the wrong colour.
Good luck with what ever you choose Discovery 4 HSE

The two year LR warranty is worth £2k on the XS regardless of milage IMO - no brainer, Wish I had the same delema!
What would the consequences be if the engine went ping on the HSE?It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Mileages are broadly identical on both 45k and one owner vehicles.
2012 better average mileage and overall 3k cheaper but once I throw in a 3 ye Warranty Direct Warranty at 1800 and 500 road tax the difference isn't much.
Good point on the electric seat pack. Let me find out.

I like the better leather and sunroof on the HSE, but I'd go for the XS, if only for the warranty.
Are they both 8 speed?

12 plate HSE should be an 8 speeder. My MY11/11 plater D4 was one of the last of the 6 speeders.

+1 for me personally on this - I want for nothing in my XS but the better seats, my D2 seats with armrests were better. It would make me push for an HSE next time. I have everything else pretty much I think apart from the big sunroof (which wold be no use for me with an expo rack on anyway ) and the heated wheel/rear seats.
In your case though (helpful contradiction here) you're probably better off with the XSD4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten

Agreed, I'd never have one of these without a LR warranty again, good choice!
