Which options to buy after the initial purchase? |
|
Gents,
I am in the progress of buying a new Discovery 4, but am still not out what options to buy directly, and which ones can be fitted later.
Let me explain, in Holland we get taxed for the list price, not for "aftermarket" options. So I am wondering which factory options can be fitted later. For example, the cruise control on the disco 3 was an expensive factory option, but an easy and cheap aftermarket one...
What to buy as factory fit for the Disco 4 ? And what not..
I am curious...

nobody?
You all buy on full price from factory??
I might be from Holland, but with ongoing crisis, I may think there are more people price - wise nowadays....
Seat covers - tow bar - corner lightning.... what to get and what not....
Thanks,

You probably need to spend some time reading around the forums to see what can be added to the 'as delivered'. From what I have seen pretty much everything has been added on at some point to the D3 or D4. These range from enabling off-road Nav and timed heater to remote heater to tow bar and electrics to xenon headlamps right through to active locking rear diff. From what I've seen, most of these (perhaps towbar electrics aside) won't/can't be done by the dealer and most/many require diagnostic great to enable these in the car configuration file.
I haven't seen the surround cameras done yet though!
I've had added the various Nav and FBH. Remote FBH was a lot cheaper than factory fit.
I think most people with D4 probably bought them new so far. With D3, many of these are secondhand so perhaps there is more drive to fit what you want if you couldn't spec it originally.
A number of forum sponsors have diagnostic gear and can do this sort of stuff.

I run a Workshop in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Last year we added the surround camera system to a 2010 Range Rover Sport that didnt include it. I wouldnt recommend it though, as it was an absolute mother to pull off, including tearing out all interior upholstery and rewiring the cabin and the engine.
