Which tyres wear quicker - front or rears?
Having just purchased a disco 3 I have found the front tyres to be more worn than the rear. Should I swap them over to even the wear up? Or does the disco wear the rears quicker than the front meaning the tyres may already have been reversed, I know tyres wear quicker at the front usually - but can be specific to individual vehicles?
Prefer in future to replace a full set at a time.
From lease company print out of service and work, it shows a pair of tyres were changed at 28K and then at 38K. Current mileage is 70K and next set won't be too far off. This seems good going for me.

Welcome to the forum, Iain
On my D3 I seem to find the fronts wear slightly more than the rear, but not by huge amounts.
Probably due to the power steering(?)
Swapping fronts to rear would seem to me to be a sensible solution to even this out
Tyre wear on my current Scorpions does not seem to be that wonderful - I doubt if mine will make it to 28k !

Thanks for response, will swap them over sometime, even if it does only make my tyres go for another 1000 miles or so.

If you swap then round you will have to replace all four in one go That is alright if you intend to change style,size ir wheels but it could be expensive. if yo intend to stay with same size and wheels then in my opinion you are better off leaving them as they are and replacing a pair as they wea out, less expensive MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Is wind up not an issue if, for example you run a new set of tyres on one axle versus a fairly worn set on the other axle? Saw on a tyre manufacturers website that they recommend no more than 4mm of difference in tread depth front to rear set on 4x4's. Obviously this wouldn't be a totally unbiased view on their part.

My fronts wear quicker but only just. LandRovers are very well balanced.................................. LC100s wear really quick at the front. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Hi All;
In all instances, the front tyres wears faster than the rear tyres, as the front tyres are subject of further work when steering, specially when the car is stationary.
I always switch the front and the back tyres half way their lifes, so i can save some dosh.

This was discussed some time ago on here - the whole concept of permanent 4WD & having three diffs eliminates whatever difference in the rotational speed would be caused by worn part worn tyres.
I cat just recall how the discussion ended....but if if the three diff 4WD system didn't wok FFRR's, FL2's, D3's, D2's, D1's & Defenders would be be very difficult to steer when on tarmac. It os the same principle that allows for the difference in tyre size.BREXIT - done properly.

I'm almost on to my 3rd set of tyres. The 1st set were f d after 20,000 miles due to the suspension geometry getting upset by 'bush settle' (sorted under warranty). Other than the uneven wear on each tyre caused by that problem, they were worn evenly front to rear. The 2nd set have lasted 30,000 miles and again, wear is very even front to rear so once again, I'll need to replace all 4 at once . In all cases, the tyres were Pirelli Scorpion Zeros (255/55/19). Thinking of switching to Mitchelin Syncrones as many other forum members say they tend to last much longer than 30K miles.Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills
