Whistling noice 1800-2200 rpm 2012 D4 SDV6

Hi
Loud and annoying whistling noice at around 1800-2000 rpm and louder under load. Tends to be louder when cold and goes away above 2200 rpm. Located on the right side (drivers side in the UK)
2012 D4 3.0 SDV6.

Any good doctor here or any pointers?

Thanks.

Intercooler hose split? Have you noticed a loss of power/smoke from the exhaust?

No loss of power, but some exhaust smell in the car ever now and then...
Where is this hose monuted?
Easy to get to?

Here you go. Quite common in older Discos. Not hard to sort.

Inspect them both thoroughly for cracks and/or tears. If in doubt change them anyway.

Good luck Thumbs Up

Only problem is that these pictures and videos are for D3. I have a 2012 D4 SDV6 3.0 - not the same hoses...

Make sure the TSOV is not stuck as this can cause this issue on a D4.

Flack Thumbs Up

TSOV - google says it is a turbo shut off valve, i don't know where it is.

It could be throttle control body housing seals or left or right inlet manifold, but i think you usually get a decrease in power if they leak sufficiently.
Does the engine have to be under load ? if not get someone to run the engine to that speed and listen under bonnet which I've found quite tricky given all the other noise going on.

Also look for oil leaks from the intercooler pressurised air path around those areas especially around the where the injectors are located.
