So long as the one I have is reasonably reliable and maintnce costs dont go through the roof, I will keep it.
It fits my needs well, good all round,
BUT if it gets problematic , I quite like the Defender, maybe a older one project vechle just for off road fun and getting there ofcourse.
Cheers

First I wanted to buy the X5 30sd but I realised that it was just a big car with 4wd
the 3rd row seats are a joke when compared to the Disco,
then wanted TDV6 for the consumption, but didnt like the sluggish take off,
and was put off by the Diesel issues.
I then decided to keep the Disco and get a second car for the town driving...
I absolutly luv the V8 even though the in town consuption is on the high side,
I have not been able to find a suitable replacement.
I have not found a single fault with the car...
Except the irritating seat belt warning beep and the Key in ingnition beep Disco 2 V8

TDV6 3.0 would be my first choice. TDV8 D3 would be the ultimate though (dream on)
And I don't know what the heck you guys are talking about when it comes to "sluggish". OK I have never driven the V8, but for goodness' sake 11 sec 0-100 in a 2.7T REAL 4x4? What else do you want?
Seatbelt bong can be cured - do a search on the site - I think its turn on ignition, then insert and remove seatbelt 9 times within a minute, et voila!

McCarthy in New Road told me that they have discontinued selling manual D3 as they were giving to many problems? Anyone know anything about this.

A 200 series TDV8, mainly due to lack of breakdown service / coverage from land rover. Just did a trip up to Broome. Only to have some problems with the onboard computer. After a lot of phone calls. The only places in Western Australia that can even look at the computer system are in Perth or Albany. So it sucks if something major happened. Even in Perth when it final failed all that land rover do is call the RAC and after speaking to the RAC rep all he does is check the oil and water to make sure the engine doesn’t blow up. So you can drive yourself the land rover. Brother in law picks up his new RRS V8 HST 'Stormer' today
£60K
Cannot really see why you would pay another £20K over an HSE - apart from trim, only real difference is engine and less flexibility
Still - looking forward to driving it tonight

LR in Oz have a lot of work to do but we are such a small market I don't think they will invest the money. However I think if you had isues with the electronics of the LC200 the local Toyota dealer would be struggling too. Any new model will take time to get fixed or parts to you anyway.
If goig to isolated spots either yoy prepare well to fix your own problems or make sure you are insured for a replacement vehicle in the event if a breakdown, otherwise your trip is stuffed up anyway. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Next car? A bit early to say, but the legacy outback with the new diesel boxer ticks a lot of boxes. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Can't beat the V8. I cannot think of another vehicle that comes close to a V8 D3. The only thing I would love is to have is another vehicle as a road machine, like an M3 or an RS4.

Andrew,
I also luv the V8 and could not think of selling it, so I bought an S3 for the high speed thrills... I would recomend the combination, they compliment each other very well.

If the spec on the TDV6 S stays as it is now then the TDV6S 30l or the V8.
My gearbox ECU packed up and I am driving Jan's TDV6 S and hels bels elctric seats and all the toys of the HSE on quick inspection only differance is the 17" wheels and no computer. White LR3 TDV6 2007
