Wiltshire Weekend....
Have just had a fantastic couple of days over Wiltshire Way... Learn't a lot and had fun too.
Have ATR's fitted and he went every where the Defenders went, with a couple of recoveries to his name as well...
OK - so I did get stuck here - but so did a modified 110.
It turned out we didn't go that way
Only have a bit of under rear bumper trim to refit, after jet washing the underside tomorrow and a bit of greasing has been done.
The shopping list has grown though.

Great pics.
I regularly go out on Salisbury Plain. It's been very muddy in parts in this winter, the Pirelli ATR's cope exceedingly well considering the relatively tame tread pattern that they have.
Several times I've had people comment on the wisdom of using "that shiny new truck, with those tyres" . It always satisfying to disappoint them. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Thanks. There will hopefully be some more when we have done the sharing thing.
Back to tyres, my goal is to do the Pyrenees thing in two years and one question is how well the ATR's would hold up. I think it may be wise to pick up some old 17" wheels and put BFG AT's or Cooper Discoverer ST/Maxx on them for that.
And then is how much under body protection is prudently vital...

I've done three trips (i think) to Pyrenees with ATRs, always been excellent. Only had to chicken out once, and whatever tyres I had on at the time I would have still ended up in real trouble. I've never seen conditions like above in the Pyrenees in several trips.
And she does like frequently cocking a wheel to show her tyres.

In my experience, less aggressive tyres, such as the ATRs, grip better on rocky terrain in comparison to the Goodyear Wrangler MTR's that I used to use off-road. More tread surface area in contact I guess.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Interesting. Will save me a few £££ not needing new boots.
DSL - looking at your undercarriage it looks like you only have a front sump guard....

The picture at No 8 looks like the track from the Centre Range Road at Prospect Clump to the Greenlands/Westdown Camp Road at the Round O.
It certainly looks like it and I am sure it is.
If so, I took that route, including the 'puddles' closely followed by a Freelander, but as we approached the 'puddle' the driver of the Freelander chickened out and went onto the grass and struggled !
He didn't get stuck but made hard work of following me because his ground was very soggy and soft whereas my ground, below the water, was a built up track of chippings.
After I got home that night I found that my Sat Nav had lost it's way, luckily it was in for a servicing this morning so they put that right for me.
It has been working OK up until then so perhaps it was the deep water telling me not to do that again.
