winch options....

hi there, finally decided to toughen up the looks of my d3, thanks to buelbeast ive now got a RAI, getting light guards and an RLD plate asap,

id love to put a winch on the beast but at just shy of 2 grand the LR kit seems much too steep for something id use once or twice a year.... ive found reasonable priced winches, (superwinch are 30min from me) but just wondering id anyone has an idea on a winch mounting plate?

would like the winch to be on show, but maybe set back into the bumper a little more.....

thanks!

Ray makes a hidden winch mount, fits behind the bumper. If used with plasma or synthetic rope a compact "8mm" aluminium hawse can be be used rather than the traditional roller.

A decent winch new is around £400 upwards. I have one for sale on defender 2 site for £250. Most winches are made by the same few companies and re-badged "branded" Whistle

Are they all made to the same physical size and bolting?

Do I recall some where that the standard bolt hole pattern for most electric drum winches is 4" x 10"?
The main variable is the length of the motor and gearbox.
Most winches will fit between the chassis rails of most vehicles but not necessarily line up with the slot for the cable in the winch mounting plate and the bit where the roller fairlead is attached.
