One thing that doesn't seem to be seen very much is a removable winch. With a reinforced towing/recovery eye on the front (and rear) and the uprated electrical connection the winch can be kept in the car. Used them alot in Russia on local equipment, only downside is the weight you have to lift about but as long as you're not a girl then no worries.

One off the downsides of a removable winch is that if you get stuck you might have to do some serious digging before you can get your winch on.Roel

I have looked everywhere I could think of for a portable/removable winch. Could not find one anywhere. if any one has any pics/diagrams whatever, would love to see 'em.<*(((<<

Looks groovey. Now how can I attach that to the front without a bull bar? Will have to give that some thought, or am I missing the obvious? <*(((<<

I'm sure something could be made up. Maybe a hidden winch tray type thing with a tow hitch, should be able to hide it behind the plastic panel.

Apart from a sky-hook (can't find the ulr for my usual supplier) you could talk to the boating boys as a lot of them have front mounted tow hitches.
I'd guess that in most countries there will be a "native" supplier, in the UK a lot of folks use Dave Bowyer - http://www.dborc.co.uk/goodwinch/ - who will be able to help. (usual no commercial links disclaimer applies).Rob Smith
