Windscreen Chinese Glass with Elephant Insurance? |
|
Just trying to make a claim for a rear side window on my D3 via Elephant insurance.
They tell me i can only get main dealer or Pilkington glass if the car is less than 3 years old (which its not)
anyone else had this issue?

Not had this issue but have had a non Pilkington screen in for over 5 years. To be honest you can't tell the difference - I drive my sisters and mates D3 and D4 regularly with original Pilkington so am able to make a comparrison.
To be honest, too many people get hung up on having Pilkington. The auto glass companies aren't going to fit rubbish becuase they don't want the hassle of redoing or replacing glass screens. D4 HSE EU6 (Known as Jeeves)

Just as long as you are not going to want another one an hour after you have had it, like their meals. A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Few horror stories on the site re. leaks / rattles / heated screens not working / headlamp assist not working
Proceed with caution – if it’s cheap, it’s cheap for a reason
If it’s fitted by LR from new, I’d insist on a like for like

The Side window has been replaced now.
Elephant normally use Autoglass, but said they are using other companies due to a raft of complaints about Autoglass.
They used a company called Nationwide Windscreens for mine, who in turn subbed it out to a local independent company.
They arrived with a Pilkington Opticool side window.
3 guys (yes 3!) fitted it without fuss and did a very good job.
