Winter Caravanning

We are looking at a winter pitch for out van up here in Scotland. Temps can get down to -15 easily and there can be lots of snow.

Does anyone have any real experience of awnings in the snow?

Is see some awnings advertised as winter awnings, does anyone have one and used it in the snow? I have a Rally Kampa Air awning which is seven years old and I’m tempted to use that and let any heavy snow “fold” it down when I’m not there and clear it when we are up at it.

Any advice help would be gratefully received before I spend a grand on a winter awning.

Thanks. Thumbs Up
Its not the height of the fall but the sudden stop at the bottom that hurts!!

No direct experience however we stayed next to a couple on a seasonal pitch in Aviemore earlier this year. They had built a wooden frame inside the awning to prevent collapse (as had most people on seasonal pitches on the site).Good luck!

No advice on awnings but it would be a perfect time to "gather" some firewood for your escapade... I know where there is a ready supply very close to there Whistle
I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Thanks Ruffy.

Nige how are you doing? I’m always on the look out for firewood especially since Dels closed down his Grantown wood yard Laughing
