I managed to wash most of the car today for the first time since my ankle surgery (I missed the top 'cos I can't stand on my toes yet). I'd forgotten what a royal PIA it is to try and clean under the wipers. Anyway, fast forward several beers and I just checked my old XF manual because I remembered a service setting being described. I won't be going out for a couple of days but if anyone wants to try, the procedure is as follows:
1. With the ignition switched off, pull the
wiper stalk towards the steering wheel to
the single wipe position. Hold the stalk in
this position.
2. Make sure the brake pedal is not applied
and, while still holding the wiper stalk in
the single wipe position, press the ignition
START/STOP button to switch on the
ignition.
The wipers will move to the vertical (service)
position. Release the wiper stalk and turn the
ignition off.
They return to normal next time the car is started. 2010 MX-5 2.0 Sport Tech PRHT
