England 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Manual Tonga GreenDiscovery 3

I am collecting all the parts on Tuesday, I have looked into having it wrapped and the prices exceeded £2000 because of the scratches as they would need to be smoothed out before it could be wrapped.

The plan now is, Car is for sale as is but I wont actually physically sell it until I have the insurance payout in my hands which will be within the next week anyway.

But it will remain for sale until the next forecasted few days in a row of dry weather where I will be fitting the replacement panels and will paint the rear quarter panels, once I have started fitting the panels, it will be off the market and be kept as a massive F U, You will not beat me message for the woman across the road. 140 mile round trip on Tuesday to collect the panels. Grateful that I have use of my friends campervan so I can transport all the panels in one hit.

Not only that, but the reg is going to remind me of what has been done, I have found a private plate that I am buying and putting on the car, nearly bought one that said GAY Whistle Rolling with laughter But settled for a cheapy with my name on it.

My insurance company have imposed new terms for me to be allowed to re-insure my Discovery 3 on the current policy with them, I have to put it through an MOT for there satisfaction. The MOT is actually still valid. So with the above work that needs doing it is for sale as described above but with a bonnet and a can of Tonga Green paint included. I have permission to sell the car now. But I won't let it go until Tuesday onwards next week.

My insurance company have now stated that the car is no longer insured, so I am not using it.

I have cancelled the deal for the doors and bumper. So just a new bonnet and a can of Tonga Green spray paint will come with the car along with the sill.

I am also equally on the lookout for another Discovery 3. But willing to bide my time to get one within the budget that I will have. I am going to have to get a temporary banger to use in the mean time.

I am truly gutted.

Personally i'd keep what you have. You know it and all its foibles. Either paint over the vandalism or just apply key vinyl strips over the damage.

To be honest with the vandalism and the work that needs doing, I think you might struggle to sell it at the price you're asking. Sadly there are too many D3 on sale now that buyers will take the easy route.

Good luck anyway whatever you decide to do.

Unfortunately I understand that if a vehicle is subject to a total loss pay out the insurance ceases.
Also I hope you have somewhere to park off the road .

yes I think this is always the case, same happened to me in my last car, as soon as they said it's a write off (which I bought back) they said I'd have to get it MOT'd before I could continue to be insured on it.

Fortunately the little accident it was in occurred two days before the MOT ran out, so I had to get it MOT'd post accident anyway as it was still fine to drive.... took me ages to explain to the jobs worth at my insurance company that I had already had it MOT'd post accident so surely I didn't have to do it again two weeks later. When the penny finally dropped after speaking to a "supervisor" they agreed it was OK.

Guy was a time waster, I have had over 130 messages on Facebook so far, 1 test drive but the guy isn't sure as he hasn't had a D3 before. The car is now on my garden as it has no insurance or tax.
I have not dealt with Cat N's before. All I know is, I now have a replacement car that I start using tomorrow, and treated my partner to a newer car so I am getting my old one back to use again for a while, so the D3 just needs to go. I am not hurrying to buy another car, I will be taking my time to find the right one again. Will also be getting the coolant leak done on my Range Rover as soon as the insurance money hits my account so will have that to use again hopefully within a week.

The reason for the MOT is to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy since it was written off, this is common practice and the insurers won’t insure until it has a new post accident/incident MOT
If it ain't broke... Take it apart anyway, how else you gonna find out how it works

I thought the new MOT thing was for CAT S only, as this is only paintwork and not mechanical surely it shouldn't need it?
