unfortunately insurance companies seem to make their own rules up as they go along. However I guess applying a blanket new MOT requirement on all write offs regardless of category makes it easier on their admin
my daughter has just 'won' a battle with her pet insurance company who finally admitted they were in the wrong as they didn't notify her they were cancelling the policy (and one of their agents telling my daughter to stop arguing and accept their judgement) 2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

Thanks for the messages and good luck wishes. I have had a long day today and after some number crunching, checking online and seeing what is on offer. Unless someone turns up before I have made the bookings, the car is being repaired and put back on the road. I am going to meet my insurance companies demand! I have contacted my trusted garage who I know hate doing handbrakes on these and asked them to book it in. I am also going to be popping into the bodyshop down the road who quoted £400 to do the welding with them making a panel, Really hope the supplied panel will drop that price and apart from a couple of other errands, Tomorrow or Sunday I will be starting to repair the paint area's where swear words are scratched. Budgeting £2000 to get this back on the road. May be able to do it for less. We shall see.

The garage have already told me that I will be getting the Scottish tax on my car for the repair Just for reference, that is nothing against Scottish people, it is because my car is from Scotland and every nut and bolt under the car has been rusted or seized solid so far
