Wntd: Someone living near this area's in UK. FOUND + UPDATE

Hello Guys,

I need some help of you guys. I am planning a trip next weekend (19th-23th of June).

I made a map on google and with the help of paint I noted some 'needs'.

The places who are circled meen's that I am still in search of a nice B&B. Our preferences are places out in the open or in the woods but not in big city's as we already stay in London and Southampton for a night.

As we are planning to go on the International Antique Fair in Ardingly on the 23th of June I will need a horsetrailer in case we buy some furniture for our new home. But traveling the whole weekend with the horsetrailer is impossible I think. So beside's the two sleepovers I am in search of a place where I can park my horsetrailer on fridaynight and pick it up on Monday, So does someone lives near the third circle and has something or some idea please let me know

Are there any person's on this forum who could help me out a little. For parking the horsetrailer we are ofcourse willing to pay if required.

That end of Salisbury Plain isn't as nice as the other end. The Wylye valley is beautiful.

If you fancy a drink by the river try the Prince Leopold - beautiful setting.

I can vouch for the scenery around here. Smile

A couple of suggestions, though, I can't say I've stayed at either, being local:

A nice location in a nearby village: http://www.millfarmhorningsham.co.uk/ Great access to the Longleat forest.

If you were able to go a little further this is somewhere a bit different: http://www.bradfordoldwindmill.co.uk/ This would be great if you wanted to consider a visit to Bath.

Thumbs Up

Thank you everyone,

Head into new forest is not possible with the 4x4 I guess?

I contacted Geoff. but did not get an answer yet, he did not read the pm neither (maybe he is on holiday). So is there anybody else living in that area, willing to help me?

Regards,

Jonas

If you where going to the antique fair at Newark(bigger and better) I could help Whistle - maybe next trip, ferry to Hull and then 60 miles to Newark.
I still can help but I'm over 120 miles away.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

The New Forest is a great place to visit and walk, you cannot off road there. However you are heading up to Salisbury Plain which has many legal green lanes to use, in fact a lane goes right past Stonehenge. I recommend strongly that you get a local 4x4'er to show you around as the MOD can be very strict if you are off route.

As above, basically no byways through the New Forest, but Salisbury Plain has plenty.

This map shows the official rights of way in Wiltshire: http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/communityandli...apping.htm Wink

You can drive on the brown routes only (but don't be confused by a lesser right of way that's overlaid onto a road). Many of the byways that pass through the centre of Salisbury Plain are subject to MOD restriction (being live firing ranges) so are only open when there are no red flags flying. It is also legal to drive on any MOD road unless it is otherwise signed. You can hear a recording detailing access times for the plain on the following number: 01980 674763. It's mostly weekends that it's open. Thumbs Up

Besides the MOD, you do also have to be very careful not to stray from the byways as many areas are Sites of Special Scientific Interest and Special Areas of Conservation. Wink
