Hi. Totally new to this site, but have read with interest members views and comments. I have enjoyed land rovers in various guises from V8 RR's to 300 tdi. and lastly D3 2.7 HSE Auto. It rather makes the previous marques seem somewhat agricultural, though their mechanicals were accessable and relatively simple by comparison, and consequently inexpensive. I suspect my latest aquisition will buck that trend. I am somewhat alarmed at dealer pricing and having carried out most of the sevicing / maintenance on my previous motors I was hoping to continue on the D3, BUT I cannot seem to find a comprehensive worksop manual. Can anyone help please.

Thanks for suggestion and link, though it appears only the owners operating manuals are available. I am wanting a proper WORKSHOP manual, similar to Haynes type that is avalable for the previous Disco marques.
Landrover themselves would probably like to discourage 'home' maintenance and instead wish their own agents to carry out and charge for the work.I fully appreciate that dealers have significant overheads and need to charge accordingly, but when I feel I have the ability to carry out certain works, and there is a good saving to be had, I see no point in contracting out the work. (it might be that I'm just tight!!! )
Lakeland Landrover at Torver are absolutely fantastic, they have assisted me greatly in the past and are always willing to oblige and advise. I would recommend them to anyone.

I want one of these as well, and have just emailed Haynes to enquire if they have any timescales for a D3 manual.
Will post the response when i get it!

Reply received from Haynes.
Quote:Dear Sir:
Thank you for your inquiry.
The UK manual that you are requesting is available in the US ONLY from our Tennessee facility. You can contact them at 1-800-242-4637 or 1-615-793-5414.
Again, thank you for your interest in Haynes automotive/motorcycle manuals!
Best regards,

Obviously UK market do not count
Any chaps in America fancy organizing a group buy to the UK, it will probably be for the petrol engine but probably still has lots of relevant info re other parts etc

SJR - What did you actually ask for?
I checked the US Haynes website, and no mention of anything LR3
I'll give them a call today and see what they say on the phone. 08 LR3 SE V8 - 02 D2 SE7 V8

important bit from my email to Haynes is as follows
Quote:I have always bought haynes manuals for my previous vehicles and found them to be superb.
I was just wondering if there are any plans for a manual for the Land Rover Discovery 3?
Only way i could have been more specific was to specify Petrol or Diesel I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

Just got this reply and they patently do not
Quote:Dear Sir,
Our US company does not make any Land Rover Manuals but our UK company does make some. They are printed in the US from our Tennessee printing plant. If there was one available they would know. We sent you there to try and give you a source to get a manual.
Sorry we couldn't help you.
Again, thank you for using Haynes automotive/motorcycle manuals!
What sort of a response is that other than incompetent I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

errr,
Back to the topic ....
Dear Harrythespider. If you look closely at the GTR website, you will find not only the user manual for your vehicle, but also the proper workshop manual that is is used by every LR dealer in the world! This is a detailed description on how to pull your vehicle to bits from the headlight to the tailight and everything in between. A Haynes manual that held the content of the GTR website would be about 1000 pages I should know, I've downloaded half of it...
There is no other reference in the world that comes close, it's no wonder that Haynes haven't touched it, they don't know how! What's the point.... it all comes out in the wash anyway!
