ISTR access is permitted if the key is <1m ...pretty similar to older keyless systems.

If they got in without a key the motor won't start without the required UWB pulsed signal.

Some more info from BMW here ...they have recently started to use it on their motors.

Hi All, I'm considering getting a Discovery 5 however I'm worried about break in's and theft of keys to get it. I've seen it's in the top 10 for most stolen vehicles and with kids and pets in the home I have to be honest it does concern me.

We have the best locks for the doors recently fitted and a CCTV and Ring set up but you hear about thieves barging into homes to get keys etc.

Solution:

New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)

Sold Volvo XC90 R-Design (known as Basil)

Sold - D4 HSE (Known as Gerty)

No longer the Old Buses original owner Sad
231,000 miles and counting
05 S manual owned from March 2005
D4 Face lifted
Still original injectors and turbo
V8 Front brakes
BAS Remap, Allisport Intercooler and deCat
EGRs blanked
T-Max split charge
Hanibal Expeedition rack
Prospeed ladder
Duratrac tyres
IID BT
BAS FBH control

think the OP is more concerned about his house being broken into for the car keys.
I couldn't give a crap about a car, that is what insurance is for.
but break into my house and my first instinct will be to protect the family....

Keyless entry is a nice touch, shame to have to disable it.

Agree. I have two daughters and a very petite and attractive wife. I will defend them to the death but make sure any injuries to the assailant / burglar scum are from the front. I have no problem getting up front and personal....
