Thanks to a classic example of moronic driving on the part of another driver today, my beloved Discovery 4 has been completely ruined and is a possible write-off, not sure yet.
Damn and blast it if I haven't got enough problems at the moment without now this happening!!!!!
Virtually every panel either dented or scratched. Most light units and both bumpers wrecked. Car was crabbing when I did move it to safety afterwards. Driver's door would not open properly without force. All tyres and wheels ruined. And the list goes on.

Was too shocked and annoyed to take any. Police took quite a lot at the scene. Looks certain the other driver will be prosecuted for trying to make an illegal right turn without seeming looking in his mirrors.........amongst other things! 2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

Only a overloaded Nissan Primastar builders van, which had pulled straight out into the middle of a stretch of straight road leaving me with no choice but to try to do an emergency overtake on his right. Unfortunately that was when he chose to perform the illegal right turn, catching my nearside rear side door and putting me into a spin, which then saw me clattering against the railings of the over bridge we were approaching at the time.
Clearly didn't use his mirrors........
Damn it anyway, that's wrecked the rest of this months jobs and my pride! 2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

Luckily the Discovery is a very strong vehicle. Any lesser normal small tin box type car and yes it would have been far worse. Hopefully will know very soon if it is fixable or not, though I worry about the mechanicals - should I get Land Rover to approve everything to preserve the remaining warranty? 2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

Sorry to hear your bad news!
If your insurance company will let you, it is essential to ensure that the work is undertaken by a LR approved body shop using LR parts only.

Problem is that the other driver's insurance company have already admitted liability and say they are fully prepared to try to fix the vehicle at their approved body shop. My insurance company also use the same body shop. The accident happened near to the HQ for both insurance companies involved. I hadn't even got to my one before the other one was on the phone admitting liability and offering to help. They have even sent an assessor around already to where the car currently is (stuck up the country). They are preparing an estimate......
So I don't know if anything can be done about getting everything done at an LR place or not, chances are most of the franchised dealers would be sending it out to a similar place anyhow...... 2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

Very few franchised dealers have body shops now that handle much more than a smart repair.
If you give LR customer service a call, they will advise where the nearest approved bodyshop is for you.
I have a bee in my bonnet about insurance cos pushing non approved repairs on people. Fundamentally, you are required to be restored to the situation that you were in prior to the accident.... in a car fully covered by a LR warranty. If their repair invalidates the LR warranty, that is not acceptable.

Sorry to hear that APL, AFAIK you don't have to use the repair company that the insurance company tell you to use. Just a thought.

APL - The car is yours and you have the choice of who repairs it. It is of course down to labour cost and providing your chosen repairer will match the Insurers approved workshop then you shouldn't have a problem.
This situation arises every day and it is very rare that the owners chosen garage do not get the job of repair.
Stick to your guns - your only legal obligation is to keep your costs to a minimum. You are not obliged to go to a "cheap repairer" if there are valid reasons not to do so.
However as already mentioned by another member, lots of main dealers out sorce work to the same body shops as they have all the equipment needed. Your local Landrover dealer may only be set up for mechanical repairs.
If you have legal protection cover under your policy, it is worth speaking to them for advice and help.

That sounds like one hell of a repair bill, but glad you're ok !
By your description I wouldn't be surprised if you don't see your car again .......... LR panels, bumpers, lights and labour costs are expensive items now !
If it was 'crabbing' do you think it had chassis damage or just suspension ?
That could make all the difference on whether you get it back or it's a write off !
Personally, I wouldn't want a car back that had extensive damage anyaway !
