At the risk of swimming against the general flow here - its a great car, the spec they have sounds good to me - I'd take it (plus 2 years free servicing). A factory order now will take till Easter 2010 to arrive - and it might snow a lot this winter.
Wouldn't you just love being in your shinny new D4 when the weather is bad Disco 4 TDV6HSE

I don't think that any of this makes sense.
No dealer would be taking orders in early September and indicating mid/late October delivery.
The O/P clearly didn't know what he was ordering, e.g. expecting to get armrests on a vehicle that doesn't come with armrests. The order form, which is spat out of the ordering system, would have the ordered spec on it, and the buyer would be expected to check and confirm the paperwork.
Something wrong here.

well winger you are right in saying that i should have checked the order form before signing and indeed i did checked it all. The salesman did certified that the car would arrived with armrest and in the color choice i made. I am not blaming anybody here not even landrover and i was asking for help and feed back on what is acceptable in the car indusctry to be done in regards to correct the matter thats is all. I still regard this car as the THE ONE i want out of all the car manufacturer....and was only stating a fact. The dealer is trying very hard to correct the issue (new door panel have been order in the right color and new upper dash trim, only issue remaining is armrest...£43k car and no arm rest ) but due to lack of response time you can certainly ask yourself a few questions which was the reason of this post.

Sorry for your troubles mate but the HSE is the only D4 that comes with front armrests. To my mind they are essential for a Disco (have them on my D3 SE) but you cannot order them as an option on lower models.
That, and the fact you cannot have electric memory seats on anything other than an HSE, is why I am currently still in my D3. 2014MY Discovery

Just to keep you all updated, i went to see them last tuesday out of desperation and wanted to have some answers. They have told me that they are still investigating the issue regarding the arm rest and what could be done to retrofit them, which in my sense is alright. But also i was promise a call on wednesday or later thursday no longer and it is now well wednesday the week after last and still no phone call no news at all , one word AMAZING. They have my car in their workshop getting all dusty and ready to be collected as soon as papers are sign for the retro fitting of the arm rest. The finance is also in place since last september, but no still no call may be it is a new type of color paint which blend in when you go offroading so you don't upset the stupid planet earth co2 emission crazy freak who should get a life regarding the pollution of their 20 year old vauxall lol
anyhow this another subject

Yep - I'm with Dunc on this, but comes down to whether you suffer from those annoying nagging thoughts.
With respect, I think you're being too soft on them...
I wouldn't spend £40K and not get armrests. Either re-order through them and get them to give you a loaner D3/RR until the new one arrives to get you through the winter (that's never going to happen is it!). Or, just go elsewhere. Whilst you can get your car serviced anywhere, it doesn't say much for their after-sales support! 2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +

stanislas, be very wary of what they may be intending to do to the seats in order to retrofit armrests, the chances are it'll be a right bodge, something you may regret later.

Hope that you got sorted out in the end. In my experience LR dealers were very vague about specs before the car was launched. When I ordered my car there was no official price / spec list available so several items are not as expected. I ordered DVD for the rear seats but was not told that the new HSE does not have the TV function in the front. Why would I spend about £2,000 on rear screens without having the option to view TV in the front? Also, we were not informed that the HSE doesn't have directional lights - again, these were standard on our 2008 HSE. Now we have noticed that the car is missing the 3.0 TDV6 HSE badging, not sure if there was a badge delete option as with BMW or Mercedes but certainly didn't ask for it.
