Yaw and body roll sensor location - replacement |
|
Hi all (Hive brain)
Having some very weird issues with my MY12 Disco. Recently had some very weird driving behaviour with the car on A roads / Motorways i.e. above 50/60mph, whereby the car would feel very unstable.
Thought it might be the tracking so, had the tracking done, and needed new tyres, had this all done and the problem is still there.
I've looked on the forum and gone through the following:
4 New Tyres
4 Wheel Tracking Done
Suspension Calibration
Steering Wheel Sensor check and review whilst driving
Tyre Pressures all checked and correct as per the door details
All are ok and check out fine
However i had read that the yaw sensor might need calibration etc etc so had a a review of the IID Tool and found the following:
When sitting still my yaw sensor shows a rate of 13106 deg/s if i turn right i get sensible numbers, if i turn left i get very silly numbers. My body roll also shows something very similar. Therefore i tried recalibrating the yaw sensor on a level surface. Calibration completed but i'm still showing wild numbers.
If i take a very gentle left hand bend at 50/60mph the DSC kicks in and almost throws me off the road. If i turn DSC off the car drives beautifully.
My problem solving has therefore centred on the Yaw / Roll Sensor.
Where is the sensor located and does anyone have any experience in changing the unit out?
Many thanks in advance for any help you can lend.
Rick

From memory the yaw sensor in a D3 is under the centre console, so I presume it's the same in a D4. The garage replaced mine & I believe the module was plug n play, no pairing required.

There used to be a separate sensor below the central dash area but they're now combined in the SRS (airbag module) which is under the centre cubby box. access is very easy but a new module will need coding.
