Yeovil Land Rover - 1st service |
|
After my unhappy experience with my local LR dealer I decided to go to Yeovil Land Rover for my first service although it’s a 295 mile round-trip. Reasons for this?
a) I'm on holiday this week and fancied a drive out into the country
b) the price conveyed to me was £240 which, even after adding £40 fuel costs, was still well under any price I could get locally (Essex - East London)
c) good things I had heard of this franchise.
Anyway, after a nice drive I arrived at 9.30 am and my D3 was whisked away. I had already informed YLR of a few issues I need to be looked at under warranty and the parts for these were ready and waiting (thanks Nick!)
I was offered a loaner by Barry on reception but declined it as a few hours waiting wasn't a big hardship. Plenty of coffee and nice comfortable chairs available there anyway. Service reception personnel were very courteous and professional and paid meticulous attention to details. They were also friendly and chatty. Nice to meet Nick in person too.
Car was serviced by 12.30 then taken for a clean and a wash. All the faults I had advised of had been fixed (but a few more discovered by the technicians too! – a revisit to get these fixed will be on the calendar soon)
Note: One of these is going to be a replacement sun-roof as my frames are cracked and need replacing!
The price was a little less than quoted and all in all the whole experience was exactly how I would expect a car owner of a top brand to be treated.
Well done Yeovil Land Rover

I'm seriously considering a trip to Yeovil in December for my 2nd service. A weekend away is almost paid for by the money saved compared to the stealers around here. Disco 5 HSE Lux

I'm up there tomorrow afternoon to drop my D3 in for the 30k service and some warranty work, and to pick up the new family toy (Defender 90) Top blokes, all of them. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Me too, been thinking along these lines for a while now, as I have not yet managed to find a dealer in my area that I can trust or indeed that can cope. Let's put it this way, if Yeovil can't deal with it, the D3 may well have to go. ( Yes ND, you are not the only one with 'unforgiveable ' thoughts,).

Is there a D3 confessional available? Say three Hail Discos and make an act of contrition towards a Jeep owner, perhaps? I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I will be phoning to see if Yeovil will give me a day in a manual D3 tomorrow to have a real test. The worst is they say no I suppose.

They've got 3 used manuals in stock. I'm sure if you talk nicely to Nick..... I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
