And Yet Agaian! D3 No 1
Overlander 4WD in Oz has just published a tow test using a 2000kg caravan over a common 165km test loop. Petrol and diesel HSE Disco's were up against Petrol and Disel Toyota Landcruiser Sahara, Nissan Patrol, Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, Mitsubishi Pajero, Ssangyong Rexton (ugly, ugly), Hyundai Terracan, Nissan Pathfinder, Ford Territory (petrol only) and here is the verdict:
"From the intelligence of its removable towbar to its relaxed freeway cruising to exemplary rough-road behaviour - once the rig is set up right - both Discos stood hat, head, shoulders and chest above any other vehicle on test. The 4.4 litre petrol V8 was quicker than the two Japanese biggies and would possibly use less fuel when driven gently. But the Disco diesel almost matched the Toyota and Nissan petrols for grunt - and their diesels for frugality - with far better towing ability. Combine that with a caverous and versatile interior and the disel Disco - here we go again - stacks up as the best on the planet"
Gee, I like that - makes me feel real comfortable with my choice and confirms my own findings.
the diesel Disco - here we go again - stacks up as the best on the planet"

After years of Japanese dominance...it's nice to see that a Land Rover product is starting to come back into favour 'Down Under' 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Yes, but from reading some of the Austrailian posts, supply is a problem. No good Land Rover having the best vehicle on the road if they can't supply the market.

If Catweasel's order in April has a September delivey, then I guess my May order won't be coming in August (as indicated by the dealer). I suppose we're going to Kakadu etc in the D1 this year then. !D3 (06) SE TDV6, Rear Locker, Rear Air, ARB bar w/winch, Safari Snorkel, 110l aux fuel tank, Kaymar rear bar (twin wheel carrier), Black Widow rear storage system, Rhino rack, GME UHF, Codan HF, IPF HID lights, CSA Explorer 17" w/BFG Mud Terrain KM2 - see Australian 4WD Monthly #103

not necessarily so, it depends on your dealer volume I believe as to where you get in the queue. ordered April, June build and is supposed to arrive in the country at the end of August and then to Adelaide in September so Sydney delivery probably quicker. ask him the build month and once they get the vin number they should have a better idea of delivery time. still dont know if mines been built yet still waiting on dealer

He can't tell me a build month, or a VIN yet. In fact it seems they can't tell me where it is in the build program. To complicate things I ordered two factory only options (Rear Air and Locking Rear Diff).
I don't get these guys. They have dozens of awards from dozens of countries and no stock.. Wait times extending into months... Does the plant run 24/7?D3 (06) SE TDV6, Rear Locker, Rear Air, ARB bar w/winch, Safari Snorkel, 110l aux fuel tank, Kaymar rear bar (twin wheel carrier), Black Widow rear storage system, Rhino rack, GME UHF, Codan HF, IPF HID lights, CSA Explorer 17" w/BFG Mud Terrain KM2 - see Australian 4WD Monthly #103

even if they did have stock in the UK it takes 2 months to travel out here (customs, boat etc) and I think its popularity has something to do with it but hey itll be worth the wait

Agreed, will be worth the wait.
Dealer tells me they are waiting for 'around 50' Disco3 and RR Sport. The VFACT numbers will spike when they all arrive....D3 (06) SE TDV6, Rear Locker, Rear Air, ARB bar w/winch, Safari Snorkel, 110l aux fuel tank, Kaymar rear bar (twin wheel carrier), Black Widow rear storage system, Rhino rack, GME UHF, Codan HF, IPF HID lights, CSA Explorer 17" w/BFG Mud Terrain KM2 - see Australian 4WD Monthly #103
