Yet another D3/LR3 aftermarket radio question
Hello All,
I can't seem to find a clear answer to the following questions (yes .I searched).
What does the low-line radio look like?
If I have the high-line radio (I believe I do), and remove it, what MOST functionality dies with it as its the fiber-hub? Is it anything that I'd actually care about? If one swaps in an aftermarket headunit, how are the speakers then reached? I assume one would have to replace the headunit, then also the amp as the speakers are wired off of that from the factory, but honestly don't know.
I'd love to add an android-powered 3rd party head unit, but I want to know the level of customization and pitfalls involved.
Thanks.

So based on that picture I have the highline radio. Anybody know the answers to my questions about it acting as the MOST hub? What happens if it's taken out?

If you have a display above (by vents) it stops working e.g SatNav 4x4 info ...
Yes you need to wire to the amp under the front seat (green wires are speakers)
or other options are available I believe.

No nav on my '05 MY. It sounds like I just need to do a wiring run from back of (new) head unit, to an amp (not the factory one) then move the speaker wire connections over to that new amp.
This seems too "easy"... Everything I've read in the past had a much highter LOE due to MOST implications.

I seem to recall a thread that suggested that to keep the MOST system (necessary if you want to keep clock display on dash I think) you strip down the old radio into its various parts and find somewhere to locate what's left, then you need to sort out fitting your new stereo. Twice per year you'll need to reassemble the old system to alter the dash clock though!!

But the steering wheel controls through the radio also control the dash command menu display so you need to ensure that these are set to your requirements before you remove your radio.
