Yet another EPB issue..... |
|
Yes I KNOW there's a million threads on EPB but just wondered what I should do.
My D3 is auto and, like every auto car I've ever had, I never use the handbrake about 99.9% of the time.
My partner has recently started to drive the D3 (and she loves it so much I hardly get a look in any more, great when we go to the pub though ) and was under the illusion the car doesn't have a handbrake (moot point ). I told her about the EPB and demonstrated it but....................nothing, nowt, kaput.....no whir, zzzrrrrr, clonk, nothing.
Anything I should check before taking back to dealer (was working in Jan at MOT time and probably not used since) and will they try fobbing me off with "not covered, you must pay" (car has extended LR warranty as an 'assured used' vehicle)?

if there was nothing at all, then maybe the EPB switch is broken?
It might also be worth checking fuse 8 in the fuse box that's under the bonnet.... 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

If its not the switch or the fuse/ fuse link, a silent EPB (as opposed to a screamer) is more than likely a low voltage issue. Anything less than 10.4 V at the actuator and it will not work, this is usually caused by a broken wire. Quite an easy fix

What was your test for not working? No noise; no light; no move when shoved in neutral? A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

I tested the feed to the acuator with a volt meter, whilst under load, by shoving a paperclip down the side of the 12v supply wires in the actuator connector block (whilst still connected) my broken wire was the connector block located in the front NS wheel arch.
